Just as her husband calls budget plans "marvelous" and wishes voters a hearty "congratulations" for no apparent reason, Ann Romney appears to have developed a nasty habit of emitting unsettlingly fake enthusiasm.
Last night — while speaking to Connecticut Republicans about her experience as a mother — Ann said she enjoyed the fact that some women are forced to work…
And amid criticism from some that she can't relate to the struggles of those with less means, or empathize with moms who have to both work and raise children, Mrs. Romney insisted neither is the case.
"My hats off to the men in this room too that are raising kids — I love that, and I love the fact that there are also women out there that don't have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids," she said.
Yup, totally relatable. Just like ordinary middle-class Americans, Ann Romney loves financial struggle, adores poverty and is totally nuts about unemployment.
Strange as it may seem, her support of forced employment is compatible with the overall GOP platform. As with abortion, Republicans love forcing women into labor against their will.
