You know what they say: All good things must come to an end. It is a sad hard truth of the world and often a bitter pill to swallow. But today I am reminded of something else that they also say, and probably more so in recent times: Newt Gingrich needs to face reality because, come on, for real!
These words, it would appear, are not wasted upon the world's smartest man…
Newt Gingrich will officially end his bid for the Republican presidential nomination and formally express his support for Mitt Romney next week, two sources close to Gingrich tell CNN.
While details are still being worked out, Gingrich is likely to hold his final campaign event Tuesday in Washington, DC where he will make the announcement surrounded by his family and supporters.
Speculation is that Gingrich's men will be killing something small and innocent — perhaps a puppy? — live on camera to ensure that the rest of the country properly mourns along with the former Speaker of the House. That, however, is merely speculation.
Though it does seem rather fitting.
