• Make This Now! Salad Pops

Love those trendy cake pops but hate the sugar-and-calorie overload? (Let's face it, nobody can eat just one.) Here's a better-for-you treat that's every bit as adorable as the original, with the added benefit of wholesome veggies.

    salad pops ingredients

You need: a prepared salad, a can of frosting (any flavor), a package of chocolate candy coating wafers, lollipop sticks and sprinkles (optional).

    .

    salad in a food processor

Start by putting the salad in a food processor.

    .

    processed salad

Process until it's finely chopped. Transfer to a mixing bowl.

    .

    salad and frosting

Stir in frosting, a spoonful at a time, until you have a mold-able mixture. Place the bowl in the fridge or freezer to firm up — especially if you're making these in the summer.

    .

    shaping salad pops

Shape the chilled salad-frosting mixture into balls.

    .

Place the balls on a foil-lined tray or baking pan. Return to the fridge or freezer while you prepare the chocolate coating.

    .

    melting chocolate for salad pops

In a bowl set over a pan of simmering water, melt chocolate. Remove from heat and stir well.

    .

Dip the tip of a lollipop stick in melted chocolate and slide into a chilled salad pop ball.

    .

    salad pops on a plate

Keep prepared salad pops on a plate in the fridge while you're assembling the rest.

    .

    dipping a salad pop

Dip the salad pops into your bowl of melted chocolate and swirl gently to coat. If chocolate starts to harden, return the bowl to the pot of hot water and heat gently until it melts again.

    .

    finished salad pop

Swirl dipped salad pops over the bowl to catch messy drips.

    .

    sprinkles on a salad pop

For a festive touch, shake on colorful sprinkles after dipping. Return finished salad pops to the fridge to set.

    .

    Voila! How cute are these?

And tasty, too! Go ahead… have another!
