• Ad Watch: Is Learning Stuff Inherently Evil?

Much like the people who put this ad together for Rep. Kristi Noem (R-South Dakota), I find myself with an embarrassment of things that are just begging to be made fun of. But can I actually jam them all into one short post?

I mean, should I comment on the fact that Noem's campaign appears to be attacking her challenger Matt Varilek for both being a smug jet-set academic elitist with crazy radical ideas about helping people in the world and being a borish pig who scarfs for corn dogs and gargles Jäger shots? Or should I hit the weird rip-off James Bond music that's supposed to make Varilek seem… bad?

Maybe I should draw attention to the fact that this ad makes it appears as though Kristi Noem has never stepped foot outside the state of South Dakota, or for that matter her own farm. Or that it would be nearly impossible to intentionally create a piece satire that would rival the anti-intellectual message of this ad.

Though, in the end, I think I'm going to keep it simple and remind voters that if Noem is a good enough leader for the South Dakota Soy Bean Association, she's good enough for all of us.
