I know you're all dying to find out if Rick Perry will be running for president again in 2016. (Spoiler alert: He is.) Unfortunately, Obama has not yet entered his second term, nor has a new, exciting and even more "populist" redux of the Tea Party arisen to be reported breathlessly by Fox News. So it's a little early for potential candidates to make announcements of intent. It's considered somewhat gauche.
However, it's not too early for potential candidates to make announcements about announcements of intent…
Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Tuesday that he will "make an announcement about my future political plans" in July, according to a report by the Rio Grande Guardian…
Asked about another presidential run during an interview with a Dallas CBS affiliate earlier this year, Perry said he was "certainly going to give it a good examination."
"2016 is way down the road," Perry said, "but I'll assure you one thing. If I decide to run for the presidency in 2016, I'll be in way before the summer of 2016, 2015 even."
Hhhrrrmmmm… Summer of 2013 seems even a little early, by Perry's own estimation. So, maybe this won't actually be announcement about an announcement, so much as an announcement about his intent to make an announcement concerning an prospective upcoming announcement. Or maybe even an announcement about and announcement about… Well, you get the idea.
At any rate, I can barely wait for seven months from now to learn of the thrilling next phase of Rick Perry's illustrious political career.
