Inside Al Franken's Secret Santa Party
Despite a recent poll showing that a plurality of Americans believe Santa is a Democrat, I remain skeptical. If this fat old man is such a liberal, why do rich kids get all the best presents? Despite my doubts, we now have confirmation of Santa's partisanship: he is indeed a Democrat from the far north, and he goes by the name "Al Franken."
For the second year in a row, Franken (D-North Pole) has organized a Secret Santa gift exchange among his fellow Senators. If nothing else, the exchanges are a good indicator of which Senators despise one another…
New Hampshire Republican Kelly Ayotte gave [North Carolina Democrat Kay] Hagan a book, "1,001 Gardens you Should See Before You Die."
That sounds like a threat!
Arkansas Republican John Boozman gave Georgia's Saxby Chambliss Mason jar wine glasses.
In other words, he gave him a Mason jar. Finally…
Nebraska Republican Mike Johanns gave Nebraska wine to Florida Democrat Bill Nelson.
Nothing says Christmas like a barrel of grape-flavored corn whiskey.
Joe Biden, technically the president of the Senate, did not participate in the exchange, probably because the Obama Administration's dual wars on coal and Christmas precluded the only gifts he wanted to give.
