I don't know about you, but when I see Bill O'Reilly, I can't help but think of Christmas. And maybe it's just because his face reminds me of ham, but the fact remains, when Christmas needs a bloviating crusader, he is there to rouse the rabble on behalf of the downtrodden nearly-forgotten holiday.
So, after Jon Stewart hilariously declared war on Christmas this week, it came as little surprise when O'Reilly responded on his Fox News show last night…

Jon Stewart Discusses His USO Tour

For the latest issue of Newsweek, Christopher Buckley interviewed Jon Stewart about what drove the Daily Show host to tour Afghanistan with the USO and how the experience has shaped his perception of the war. It's a great read, but if you have a crippling fear of paper-cuts, fret not, because you can also find the piece on Newsweek's digital sister The Daily Beast. And it's a good thing too; I was having a hell of a time finding the "copy" and "paste" buttons on the print version.Here's an excerpt…
"It's an incredible experience," he says. "From the first one that I ever did until now, always the thing that strikes you the most is they’re thankful you're there. It's the most shocking part."
He shakes his head. "They'll say to you, 'Thank you so much.' The guy who's been clearing mines in Helmand province and has just lost a leg. 'Hey, thank you so much.' And you’re like, Really? You want to say, 'You know, you’re right, I am the real hero here. Coming down to see you. You know that traffic on I-95? That Delaware Corridor? That is never not backed up.'"
I asked how he prepped for the Afghanistan tour of a dozen-odd forward operating bases.
"You get shots for as many 17th-century illnesses as you possibly can," he laughed. "If somebody does offer you a street taco, you say, 'You know, I think I’m going to stick with the Meals Ready to Eat.'"
