Quote Unquote: Mount Rushmore
Andrew Sullivan on President Obama's track record with regards to killing bad people in faraway places…
"To rid the world of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Qaddafi within six months: if Obama were a Republican, he'd be on Mount Rushmore by now."
Well, luckily for everybody, Obama is a Democrat, so we're free to hand all the credit off to other countries. Which is nice because it means we're finally exporting something besides jobs.

From the Pork Barrel: The Probing of Clarence Thomas

* Newser headline: "Dems Seek Probe of Clarence Thomas" – That truly is a party full of deviants, isn't it?
* President Obama tied in polls with non-candidate.

* Ibish Comedy's Sarah Burton pitches her column idea to al Qaeda's Inspire Magazine, the magazine for today's modern hip terrorist.

How Many Dozens of Justice Coins Will You Be Ordering?
Oh… My… GOD!!! This Osama bin Laden Is Dead commemorative coins from the… um, Historic Coin Mint (which is maybe an actual thing maybe)!!! For only $19.95?! Please tell me that they're made of genuine brass and then painted over in a thin sheet of 24 carat gold! They are?!?! There better not be a limited number of these, because I want an unlimited number of them!!!
Look, I don't wanna be too nitpicky here. I'm glad that one side of these coins features a picture of some Navy Seals and another has the World Trade Center. But can't there be a third side that shows Osama bin Laden bleeding out from his skull on his bedroom floor? But, like, in bas relief and all tasteful and shit.
I'm just saying, they're missing the Historic Coin Mint is really missing an opportunity make something special here.

Officials Warn of Terrorist Threat for Old Times' Sake
You know, you just generally don't peg fundamentalist agents of terror as the sentimental types. So, I was a little shocked when government counterterrorism officials sent out a warning for a possible maybe car bomb attack by al Qaeda in either New York City or Washington D.C. to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 this upcoming weekend.
Really, they could have just sent a card…
In a statement, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security, Matt Chandler, called the threat "specific, credible, but unconfirmed." Another official said American intelligence agencies were urgently pursuing leads overseas in an effort to gauge the seriousness of the threat…
The mayor noted that the threat information had not been corroborated and warned against an overreaction. He declined to speak about the nature of the threat report.
"The best thing we can do to fight terror is to not let it intimidate us," Mr. Bloomberg said, adding that he planned to take the subway in the morning as usual. "I can tell you our ceremonies will go on over the weekend exactly as they were planned," the mayor said, referring to the memorial events for the 10th anniversary.
Okay. Okay. So, the mayor of New York City wants us all to stay calm and go about our business. Stay calm because of what? Does this mean he knows something? Maybe we should start freaking out now, just to be on the safe side.
And to beat the weekend freaking-out traffic.
