Ron Paul Wins American Idol (Endorsement)

When one thinks of a Ron Paul supporter, the image that typically comes to mind is either a neck-bearded internet troll or an ornery prospector stroking his shotgun on the porch.

But that’s all about to change with Paul’s latest big-time Hollywood endorsement…

Ron Paul got sort of a backhanded celebrity endorsement today from pop idol Kelly Clarkson.

The diva tweeted Wednesday morning "I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination, and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican Party in 2012, he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."

Most people don't realize this, but in Clarkson’s hit single "Since U Been Gone," the "U" referred not to an ex-beau, but to the Union. A longtime admirer of Ron Paul and his pro-Confederacy views, Clarkson was merely lamenting the loss of states’ rights following the Civil War.

Upon hearing Clarkson praise Ron Paul, fellow American Idol finalists weighed in with their picks. Clay Aiken endorsed Marcus Bachmann, Ruben Studdard endorsed a grilled cheese sandwich, and season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini endorsed his favorite bridge to sleep under.

Idol judge Randy Jackson has yet to comment on the GOP race, but sources say he finds Ron Paul to be a little pitchy, dawg.
