Dick Cheney Says Canada Too Dangerous to Visit
Ever since Canadian Bacon warned me of the syrup-soaked menace to the north, I've been properly skeptical of Canada's image as a friendly and peaceful locale. The second largest country in the world, with 90% of its citizens massed along the longest undefended border in the world, presumably just waiting to strike, there's obviously a dark side to the land of Mounties, politeness and universal healthcare.Unfortunately, few American officials have seen through the facade, with Barack Obama choosing Canada as his first international destination as president. But one man's
heartventricular assist device knows the score…Former U.S. vice-president Dick Cheney has cancelled an April appearance in Toronto citing concerns Canada is too dangerous.
"He felt that in Canada the risk of violent protest was simply too high," said Ryan Ruppert, president of promotions company Spectre Live Corp., which had booked Mr. Cheney for an April 24 appearance at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre…
"God forbid there was ever an emergency," said Ruppert, noting Cheney's history of heart problems.
It's not the first time Cheney has been afraid to go to a foreign land. Though unlike Vietnam, I don't think he'll have trouble finding volunteers to take his place.

Quote Unquote: Ken Mehlman Apologizes
Ken Mehlman — former RNC chairman and head of the '04 campaign to reelect George W. Bush — seeks retribution for his past wrongs…
.
"As I've been involved in the fight for marriage equality, one of the things I've learned is how many people were harmed by the campaigns in which I was involved. I apologize to them and tell them I am sorry."
.
It's funny how this never really works the other way around. How often do you see politicians forced to publicly seek forgiveness for their formerly tolerant and progressive politics.
Well, I guess there is at least one notable exception.

Exclusive Extended Daily Show Interview with Condoleezza Rice
"I don't think that there's any chance that an Arab Spring flourishes in Iraq. An Arab Spring in Iraq looks like Syria, but much much worse. Because, unlike Qaddafi, Saddam Hussein had a massive army, Saddam Hussein had put 400 thousand people in mass graves, he used chemical weapons before. So, I think a very different set of circumstances." — Condoleezza Rice
The interview continues after the jump.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11/10c.

Donald Rumsfeld Heroically Cancels Newspaper Subscription in Face of 9/11 Tragedy
It was awful. What happened that sad New York City morning on September 11th will not be forgotten anytime soon. How anyone could allowed it to happen boggles the mind. And yet it did happen, and this nation will have to deal with that for a long time.Obviously, I'm talking about Paul Krugman totally insufficiently-bathetic editorial that The New York Times published in yesterday's paper…
"What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons."
Turn away! Turn away; don't look at it. It's too awful. Plug up your ears with your fingers and hum a Lee Greenwood psalm lest you be forced to ask yourself unpleasant questions that might put you off your burger and freedom fries.
Luckily, we still have great men like former People Magazine Sexiest Cabinet Member honoree Donald Rumsfeld around to serve as examples of how true patriot responds when faced with genuine anti-American adversity…
Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Monday canceled his subscription to The New York Times after columnist Paul Krugman characterized the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks as "an occasion for shame."
Rumsfeld tweeted, "After reading Krugman’s repugnant piece on 9/11, I canceled my subscription to the New York Times this AM."
A true hero. We shall not see his like again.

Jon Stewart's Extended and Uncensored Interview with Donald Rumsfeld
On last night's Daily Show, Jon sat down with former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. As you can imagine, they had a lot to talk about, so the interview went long, but you can now see the entire thing right here. And while this is indeed uncensored, I'm afraid the rumors that Rumsfeld went full-frontal are patently false. He keeps his merkin on the entire time.
Parts two and three are below.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11/10c.
