Claire McCaskill Is Obsessed With Antonin Scalia's Hat

Four years ago, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) celebrated President Obama's swearing-in by inaugurating her cheeky presence on Twitter:
Scalia in a really weird hat.

It seems that hat has haunted her dreams for quite some time, because she returned to fashion-tweeting just in time for this year's ceremonies:

Senate Rape Caucus Devastated by Election Results

While the voters have not been unkind to the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, one segment of the Congressional Republican Party has been dealt a devastating blow: the Senate Rape Caucus.

What Kind of Dog Is Claire McCaskill?
As you've no doubt heard, Todd Akin has been catching some heat for comparing his opponent Sen. Claire McCaskill to a dog. Well, Akin's adviser — in an apparent attempt to smooth things over with angry voters — tweeted this out a little while ago…
If Claire McCaskill were a dog, she'd be a "Bullshitsu",
— Rick Tyler (@rickwtyler) October 22, 2012
We saw that, and we were like, "Heeeeyyyyyyy… Not only is that incredibly offensive, but it also kind of looks like fun." So we decided to put together a list of other possible dog breeds that Sen. McCaskill might be…

Todd Akin Pays Claire McCaskill Highest Compliment
Let's grant that the failure of Todd Akin's mouth to shut down all the legitimately offensive things his brain comes up with presents a serious problem. But consider the Republican Senate candidate's latest statement about his opponent Claire McCaskill…"She goes to Washington, D.C., it's a little bit like one of those dogs, 'fetch,'" Akin said. "She goes to Washington, D.C., and get all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies and brings all of this stuff and dumps it on us in Missouri."
At first glance, comparing McCaskill to a dog appears just as bad as all the other remarks Akin has recently made. However, we shouldn't be making such a judgement without first consulting a nutjob-to-English dictionary. As a native speaker, Iowa's Rep. Steve King makes for the perfect translator…
When WHO TV's John Bachman asked King about a time when he compared immigrants to dogs by saying the U.S. could have the "pick of the litter," King responded, "It was a compliment, John."
Turns out that in his native tongue, calling Claire McCaskill a dog is actually the nicest thing Todd Akin has ever said about a woman.

Claire McCaskill Is Not "Ladylike" Enough for Todd Akin
Todd Akin opens his mouth, news story happens. You know how it goes…When she defeated Republican Senator Jim Talent in 2006, [Democratic Sen. Claire] McCaskill "had a confidence and was very much more sort of ladylike," Akin told reporters today at a press conference in Jefferson City on the third day of a statewide bus tour.
"In the debate we had Friday, she came out swinging, and I think that’s because she was threatened," Akin said.
Yeah, you know how women are, when they're threatened. They turn into surly wharf tarts and brazen hussies, what with their strong personalities and willingness to engage in serious discussion. Sometimes they're even talk about their vaginas! Disgusting!
Personally, I think this is a very strategically-sound move from Akin's perspective. I mean, I think it's gross, but that's kinda the point.
Hear me out: A month ago, Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" pretty much drove away most voters who could be considered "discerning" or "rational." So, now, at this point, not only does he not have anything to lose by saying crazy ridiculous sexist nonsense, but it could actually behoove him! You know, energize the ol' crazy ridiculous sexist base and make sure they get out to the polls.
Everything is going according to plan.
