Racists React Racistly to Colin Powell's Obama Endorsement

This morning, former Secretary of State and technically-still-a-Republican Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama for re-election on CBS, saying, "You know, I voted for him in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012, and I'll be voting for he and Vice President Joe Biden next month."
Powell's support isn't expected to change the fundamentals of the race, but it comes as a relief to an Obama campaign that would have been embarrassed by Powell's refusal to reprise his 2008 endorsement.
And it comes as an even bigger relief to those of us who were beginning to have too much faith in humanity and needed a reason to become misanthropes again. For it's an iron law of politics that whenever an African-American endorses the president, the
goodpeople at the Free Republic will make you want to cleanse your eyeballs with soap…

Colin Powell Is Cool with Gay Marriage
Colin Powell, who helped institute Don't Ask Don't Tell and then changed his mind about it, has taken a new stand on the subject of gays in the war on singlehood. Here's the former Secretary of State speaking on tonight's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer"…
BLITZER: [W]hat about gay marriage? Are you with the president in supporting gay marriage?
POWELL: I have no problem with it…. [A]s I've thought about gay marriage, I know a lot of friends who are individually gay but are in partnerships with loved ones. And they are stable a family as my family is. And they raise children. And so I don't see any reason not to say that they should be able to get married under the
laws of their state or the laws of the country, however that turns out – it seems to be the laws of the state. So, yay, Colin Powell supports marriage equality.
As for supporting the president, well, he won't go that far.

Colin Powell Has an Opinion About That One Thing Everyone's Talking About
So, former Secretary of Defense Gen. Colin Powell had something very interesting to say this morning about a subject a lot of people are talking about lately…"So, we already got a bunch of flash forwards in Season 4 and then a lot of time travel backwards in Season 5. So, I guess Season 6 is going to be all about flash sidewayses? I suppose we can expect this to complete the Marty McFly travel triumvirate."
Oh, wait. Sorry. That wasn't former Secretary of Defense Gen. Colin Powell. That was my cousin Deena, who kind of looks like Colin Powell a little bit. Like, around the eyes area.
But, Colin Powell had something noteworthy-ish to say, too. I guess.
