Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the state of political discourse in 21st Century…
A melee nearly ensued today outside Mitt Romney's speech at CPAC, when protesters blocked a large TV screen showing Romney's speech.
In the background, you can hear one man telling protesters: "You are a left-wing bastard."… "Dad, you can't do anything about it," [an attendee] pleaded. "I'm just scared my dad's going to like, knock them out," she told me.
It's so inspiring to see people from either end of the spectrum come together like this.

If there's one thing Newt Gingrich is good at — apart from saying "fundamentally" — it's fundamentally misunderstanding his own popularity. First, he thought he could go from disgraced ex-House Speaker and occasional cable talking head to leader of the free world.
And now he's trying to appeal to social conservatives by trotting out the woman who broke up his second marriage…
Callista Gingrich is set to introduce her husband Newt Gingrich at CPAC… It would be one of the rare times that Callista has had a public presence on the campaign trail, and it comes at an event that will be filled with conservatives for whom social issues are key.
The speech she's supposed to give is intended to be light-hearted and descriptive about the man she's married to, the source told POLITICO. Her decision to introduce her husband is intended as the first step in what will be a broader rollout of Callista going forward.
This is clearly an attempt to soften the candidate's image. But based on Newt's physical appearance, he's already soft enough.
Fortunately for Callista, while being used as a political prop may prove unpleasant, it can't possibly be more unpleasant than simply being married to Newt Gingrich.

Mike Huckabee responds to Barack Obama's proposed requirement that contraception for women be covered by all health insurance plans…
"I remember very vividly when John F. Kennedy said that we are all Berliners. Well, in many ways, thanks to President Obama, we are all Catholics now."
I remember very vividly when Mike Huckabee said that we are all Catholics. Well, in many ways, thanks to Mike Huckabee, we are all, as the populace, overwhelmingly in favor of birth control.
