The Daily Show on Obama's Broken C-SPAN Promise

As you've heard, after promising numerous times on the campaign trail to broadcast Senate health care negotiations on C-SPAN, President Obama is now blocking the network's cameras from the chambers. Of course, this is really in the best interest of C-SPAN, who would be heavily fined by the FCC if they aired all those Senators giving sloppy blowjobs to the insurance companies.

Below, Jon Stewart reports on White House Budget Director and one-time Daily Show guest Peter Orszag's unlikely sex scandal.

The Health Care Revolution May or May Not Be Televised

Barack Obama made a campaign promise in January 2008 that a debate on health care legislation would include "bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are."

Now C-SPAN is seeking permission to offer live TV coverage of the final discussions over the health-care bill.

But as Democrats enter talks on the separate versions of the legislation passed by the House and Senate, they're hesitant to allow C-SPAN's cameras to air the proceedings. Republicans say Democrats are backing away from Obama's pledge of transparency.

Is that what they're doing?

Or have Democrats finally gotten in touch with mainstream America, thereby learning that mainstream America is only interested in watching television that involves competitive cooking, competitive weight loss and a guido with a heart of gold?

On last night's Colbert Report, Stephen discussed health care reform with Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein and White House spokesperson Linda Douglass. Can you believe we're still talking about health care? We could save so much time if we'd forget about the whole health care reform thing and just get everyone to start doing daily catsup enemas. It's cheap, it cuts out the fat cats in Big Pharma and the AMA, and it works on all ailments. I've been doing it for years, and I haven't been sick in over two weeks.
