Tim Kaine Drops Election Night Bombshell

In the face of months of polls and an evening of election results not to the contrary, Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine has just made the bold prediction that his party will lose control of the house. Can anyone tame this live wire?

In the end, he said, there will be "a Democrat in White House, a majority of Republican governors, a Democratic Senate, and a Republican house."

Still no word from Kaine regarding the color of the sky and Garfield's opinion of lasagna, but with the way he's wantonly spouting crazy prognostications tonight, it may only be a matter of time.

Former Virginia Governor and current Chairman of the DNC Tim Kaine returned to The Daily Show last night to discuss his party's chances in this November's midterms. Kaine calls the Democrats underdogs, which seems odd when you consider they control both houses of Congress and The White House, but makes perfect sense if you're a visitor from The United Patriotical States of Palinmerica circa 2013.

The RNC Spent $773,000 on Office Supplies — Paper Clips, Liquor and the Like

The DNC and the RNC released new financial disclosure forms last night, and it turns out both party committees spend nearly two-thirds of their money on staff perks, food, booze, luxury getaways and goodies for big donors. The DNC's 14-month tab for catering at the Washington Hilton? $176,000. The RNC's total spent on Dallas Cowboys tickets? $14,937.

Of course, a major political committee also needs basic office supplies…

The RNC's expenditures for "office supplies" in the period through February topped $773,000, according to a Post tally, including jelly beans for Steele's office and thousands of dollars' worth of liquor and wine.

Although not asked to review specific party expenditures, Mindy Kramer, an Office Depot spokeswoman, said that in general, firms with 100 office workers — about the size of the RNC headquarters staff — spend $30,000 to $50,000 a year on supplies.

Sure, but the average firm with 100 office workers doesn't have Michael Steele as a boss.

So I imagine people spend a lot less time binge drinking under their desks.
