Gov. Ed Rendell Goaded into Turning into Hulk on National Television

Don't make out-going Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry. Apparently…
A CBS promotional video clip shows an angry Gov. Rendell saying "you're simpletons, you're idiots" during a 60 Minutes interview. The segment is to air Sunday evening as part of an examination of the proliferation of casino gambling across the country…
Rendell reportedly was explaining that gambling addicts already had opportunities elsewhere, when his temper flared. By allowing casinos in Pennsylvania, tax revenue and jobs would stay in the state instead of going to neighboring New Jersey, he explained.
He then picked up the CBS news camera and threw it across the room and out the window before slow-motion breaking through a wall and loping through downtown Harrisburg. Or I assume. The clip only lasts a short moment, but that seems to be the way things are going. Something like that happened, at any rate.
The full interview and carnage runs on Sunday.
(Thanks to my friend Upma, for the heads up.)

How in the World Could 44-Year Republican Arlen Specter Have Lost Last Night's Democratic Primary?
I don't think humanity will ever come to grips with this mystifying mystery.Oh, the best minds of political science will no doubt beat their brains tirelessly against the rough, cold exterior of this conundrum, but their efforts will surely be in vain. For no intellect known to man will likely ever crack the riddle of why Pennsylvania Democrats did not give their senatorial nomination to 44-year elected-Republican Arlen Specter.
Why, Arlen Specter?! Whhhhhyyyyyyyyyy??????!!!!
How could this have happened? How could a state's registered Democratic electorate only give a man who has spent his entire career (up till a few months ago) opposing their interests a mere 47 percent of the vote? There must be some reasonable explanation! There simply must!
Was Specter, perhaps, a victim of force majeure?
"Turnout was terrible," [Pennsylvania] Gov. Edward G. Rendell said less than two hours before the polls closed here. And just about two hours after they had closed, he blamed the rain and the low turnout in Philadelphia for ending Mr. Specter's 30 years in the Senate.
"The rain killed Arlen," Mr. Rendell said dejectedly. "Whatever chance he had went down with the rain."
Oooooohhhh, it was the rain! Well, why didn't you say so to begin with? That makes all the sense in the world.
Never mind, everyone. Mystery solved.

Ed Rendell Thinks GOP Should Be Made to Filibuster
Ed Rendell is an embarrassment to Democrats. Look at him strutting around with that backbone of his, like he's vertebrate of the walk. It's simply shameful…

From the Pork Barrel: Antichrist, Superstar
* One in twelve New Jerseyans even dumber than you think they are.* I'll bet I could spend all 24,000,000,000 hours of the day reading through the #michellemalkinmath hashtag on Twitter.
* Orly Taitz is just like an honorable version of Nelson Mandela.
* Is Bill O'Reilly endorsing socialism?
* Consider Philadelphia's two biggest issues — money and cheesesteaks — solved! Thanks, Dr. Phil!

Arlen Specter Unwilling to Jump from Sinking Ship
There's been a lot of talk recently about liberals trying to Jedi-mind-trick Pennsylvania senator Arlen Specter — the least Republicany republican in Republicanville — into jumping ship and joining the Democrats' glorious march toward its mythological filibuster-proof 60-seat-majority before he gets crushed in the primaries next year.Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell — a Philadelphia Eagles fan who stuck with Hillary Clinton pretty much right till the DNC — is obviously a big fan of lost causes…
Ed Rendell told RNN-TV, a regional cable news channel in the Northeast, that he has in fact tried to talk GOP Senator Arlen Specter into switching to the Democrats — oh, and so have some other important people, who Rendell probably shouldn't have mentioned.
"We've tried," said Rendell. "Myself, Senator Casey, Vice President Biden have tried to talk him into it, but he's bound and determined to stay a Republican."
I know just how Governor Rendell feels watching someone just pretty much committing suicide before your eyes. I saw Requium for a Dream that one time.
The worst part will be watching Specter go ass-to-ass with his GOP challenger during the primaries. But if you drink enough, that image will eventually get burnt from your brain.
