Stephen Colbert Salutes Anti-Gay Boy-Renter Rev. George Rekers
Just another reminder that there is no defeating Haggard's Law. Haggard's Law is one of the fundamental
istlaws of the universe! Why, you'd have an easier time reversing the gravitational pull of the supermassive black hole that lies at the heart of our galaxy then keeping a staunchly anti-gay rights religious conservative from getting his stick shift shafted at the secret body shop every thousand or so miles.

Hospital Visitation Rights for Gays and Lesbians? What Next, We Let Them Pay Taxes?

Barack Obama's radical leftist agenda just got radical-er: yesterday he signed a memorandum that stops hospitals from barring visits by people who aren't spouses or blood relatives, like gays and lesbians whose partners aren't spouses for obvious reasons. How radical was this decision? Just ask the Family Research Council…
"In its current political context, President Obama's memorandum clearly constitutes pandering to a radical special interest group," said Peter S. Sprigg, a senior fellow for policy studies at the Family Research Council. He said that his organization does not object to gays giving their partners power of attorney but that it questions Obama's motives.
"The memorandum undermines the definition of marriage," he said.
Oh, it goes further than that…
The new rules will not apply only to gays. They also will affect widows and widowers who have been unable to receive visits from a friend or companion. And they would allow members of some religious orders to designate someone other than a family member to make medical decisions.
Always pandering to the widowed special interest groups, this president, and undermining the definition of nunship.

Stephen Colbert on Michael Steele's Empty Empire and the New Shadow RNC
Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie's new fund-raising PAC American Crossroads appears to be about to overtake the RNC as the main money machine for the GOP. So, where does that leave Michael Steele? What happens to the Republican National Committee's first black chairman when everyone else has gone and left him without even the money for a quick lap dance?

Family Research Council Tries to Stop Donations to the RNC (Yes, That's an "R")
The Family Research Council — that group that sounds like it's investigating reasons why Timmy won't share the toys with his sister, but instead spends most of its time hating gay people — has joined the chorus of conservatives slamming the Republican National Committee after l'affair lesbian-bondage-stripper-gate.Now FRC head Tony Perkins is hitting the GOP where it hurts. No, the other place…
Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council and an influential social conservative, is urging his members to stop giving money to the Republican National Committee, POLITICO has learned.
"I've hinted at this before, but now I am saying it: Don't give money to the RNC," Perkins will tell FRC members in the group's next e-mail newsletter. "If you want to put money into the political process, and I encourage you to do so, give directly to candidates who you know reflect your values."
Sage advice, Mr. Perkins.
As we all know, candidates who reflect conservative values never, ever get caught up in sex scandals.

Senate Democrats Commit Hate Crimes with Their Hate Crimes Legislation
That's pretty much the situation since the Senate voted yesterday to include attacks on gays and lesbians under the federal definition of hate crimes, because you'll never guess how the Democrats pulled it off: they weaseled their precious "Matthew Shepard Act" into a defense spending bill. What is a Republican supposed to do at that point? Must… stop… homosexual agenda. Must… also… support… troops. Agh. Agghrhrrhh. Gghhhhrr. (The final vote was 68-29.)Let's see, there's got to be a press release from Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. Yep, here it is:
"In a slap to the face of our servicemen and women, they attached 'hate crimes' legislation to the final defense bill, forcing Congress to choose between expanding hate crimes or making our military go without. This hate crimes provision is part of a radical social agenda that could ultimately silence Christians [...blah blah, etc...]."
Funny thing about this hate crimes legislation, actually, there is this one part of it I hadn't noticed before…
It also would make it a federal crime to attack U.S. military personnel because of their service.
Whoa! So why are Tony and his conservative allies demanding President Obama's veto? If I read this right, by slapping our servicemen and women in the face with this legislation, the U.S. Senate has just convicted itself of a hate crime. Dudes, let it pass and let the awesome lawsuits begin!
