Geraldo Rivera Blames Trayvon Martin Killing on Trayvon Martin
Until today, one remarkable fact surrounding the killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman has been the relative lack of polarization in the surrounding commentary. Many have argued that perhaps Stand Your Ground laws, which in Florida seem to authorize people to pursue and confront others "to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony," are a bad idea, since we should not base public policy on Death Wish and Dirty Harry. Others argue that those concerned with minorities' rights should not be pushing to give prosecutors even more discretion by limiting self-defense claims. Nearly everyone agrees that the decision by the police chief of Sanford, Florida to temporarily step aside is a good one, especially if "temporarily" is a new synonym for "permanently."
So who will step up to provide a dose of aggressive stupidity? We're in luck, because on this morning's Fox and Friends, Geraldo Rivera explained that guns don't kill people. And armed, racist, self-appointed vigilantes patrolling communities with incompetent police departments sort of kill people. But hoodies definitely kill people…
Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera reacted to the killing of 17-year-old, unarmed Florida resident Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watch member George Zimmerman by claiming, "I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin's death as George Zimmerman."
Rivera said: "I believe that George Zimmerman, the overzealous neighborhood watch captain should be investigated to the fullest extent of the law and if he is criminally liable, he should be prosecuted" but went on to claim Martin "wore an outfit that allowed someone to respond in this irrational, overzealous way."
I don't want to alarm anyone, but I'm finding Geraldo's mustache "real suspicious."

Jon Stewart Pits Rudy Giuliani Against Rudy Giuliani
On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart covered the media brouhaha surrounding the upcoming trial of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, revealing Nancy Grace as the cause of boner cancer and counteracting the arguments of Rudy Giuliani with those of none other than Rudy Giuliani from 2006. Both Giulianis made such strong points, I think we need a third opinion. Maybe from 1997 cross-dressing Giuliani or 1999 paying-for-his-mistresses-security-detail-with-misappropriated-city-funds Giuliani.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.
