GOP Believes Hurricane Gustav Can Help
As hurricane Gustav prepares to touch down on the Gulf coast to gently remind people not to build on flood plains, a senior GOP congressman believes the government's response to the hurricane could provide a windfall (couldn't be helped) of support to the Republicans."If it does work out well, it will probably be a small plus for us," said New York Rep. Peter King, top Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee.
This indeed reinforces the GOP's new theme, in which the party can say "We can learn from our mistakes after botching the response to a disaster that ruined thousands of lives."
Some slogans for this new message might be "At least we didn't invade Syria"; "We fucking nailed Gustav", and "What Avian Flu Pandemic?"
