Mitt Romney Fails to Secure Hugo Chavez Endorsement
Endorsements carry little weight, especially in a general election where most voters make their decisions based on long-standing partisan preferences, not the signals of endorsing elites. Still, for Mitt Romney, this one has to hurt…[Hugo] Chavez, who is up for re-election a month before U.S. President Barack Obama, has in recent weeks expressed a clear preference for the man currently in the White House.
In a campaign speech Saturday night, Chavez equated the agenda of his challenger, Henrique Capriles, with that of Romney, saying both men represent the callously selfish capitalist elite.
And here I though there was a real chance for Romney to make headway with the all-important Latin American strongmen who kind of look like a fat Jackie Chan demographic. They're a key voting block in Broward County!
Chavez, who is probably part of a CIA experiment to see what would happen if you combine the paranoia of a Michele Bachmann with the policy preferences of the guy yelling about secret CIA experiments on your neighborhood street corner, had some kind words for Barack Obama. Chavez said Obama "deep down is a good guy, if you remove him from the context of being president of an empire," which is the kind of tepid endorsement normally reserved for Romney.

Hugo Chávez Says the U.S. Maybe Gave Him Cancer
Cigarettes, breathing, looking at the sun, sticking your head in a microwave, eating lead paint, etc. Add yet another item to the already long list of totally fun things that cause cancer: Ruling a South American country.Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez recently insinuated that a plot by the U.S. could be behind his and other political leader's illnesses…
Chavez, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in June and had a baseball-sized tumor removed in Cuba, has called for a regional summit of leaders who have battled cancer including Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, her predecessor Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva and Paraguay’s Fernando Lugo.
"I'm just sharing my thoughts, but it's very, very, very strange," Chavez said. "Evo take care of yourself, Correa, be careful, we just don’t know," he said, referring to Evo Morales and Rafael Correa, the leaders of Bolivia and Ecuador.
The U.S. embassy in Caracas declined to comment on Chávez's theories, seeing as how he also recently called President Obama a clown, said George W. Bush was the devil, and refers to his political enemies as "Imperial Yankees." Even though several of those theories may sound credible, there's no way our government is capable of giving specific leaders long-term diseases.
Or is there? After all, the U.S. did give Osama bin Laden that bullet-sized tumor.

Hugo Chávez Calls Barack Obama a "Clown" and an "Embarrassment"
Normally, I get somewhat offended when a foreign leader says something scathing about the U.S. President, regardless of who that is at the time. But I make special allowances for Hugo Chávez he reminds me of the pet frog I had when I was nine…On the eve of his first official overseas trip since being diagnosed with cancer, Hugo Chávez has launched a blistering attack on Barack Obama, describing the US president as a "clown" and an "embarrassment."
"Focus on governing your country, which you've turned into a disaster," the Venezuelan president told state TV on Monday.
Looks like somebody's trying to take advantage of the power vacuum in national primary polls right now.
