Jon Stewart on the Alvin Greene Debacle
By now you've heard about the out-of-nowhere victory by unknown candidate Alvin Greene in the South Carolina Democratic Senate primary. A lot of folks are claiming Greene is some sort of GOP plant, but if you look closely, he's got all the earmarks of a great Democrat. He's got the charisma of Joe Lieberman, the integrity of Rod Blagojevich and the fresh ideas of Franklin Roosevelt (now).
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

Keith Olbermann's "Interview" with "Alvin Greene"
Alvin Greene proves that you don't need party-support to win a primary.
Alvin Greene also proves that you don't need candidate-support to win a primary. He seems to be getting along just fine without himself…

Special Noose-o-Gram Delivery for Reps. Clyburn and Stupak
A rope lying in your garage is just more clutter in the garage. A rope tied in a knot, sketched as accurately as possible and faxed to a black member of Congress who voted for health care reform, now, that's a message…House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) said that his office had received a fax that depicted a noose.
Clyburn told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that the Republican leaders were partly to blame for the extremist rhetoric (and now imagery) that has been flying at Democratic members directly before and after the health care reform vote.
Clyburn called on Republicans to step in and call out the extremist.
Unsettling? Yes. Unethical, un-American, un-Christian? Yep, I'd say, pretty sure. Racist? Not so fast…
[Totally Caucasian] Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) received a fax [yesterday] with a drawing of a noose and gallows, labeled "Bart (SS) Stupak."
[T]he fax also has the line, "All baby killers come to unseemly ends Either by the hand of man or the Hand of God," the word "Achtung" and the symbol of the Nazi secret police.
See that? Equal opportunity hatemongering!
America, we've come so far.

Jon Stewart on the Bipartisan Health Care Summit
Yesterday's big bipartisan health care summit is all anyone is talking about, and obviously not everyone is in agreement about it. Some thought it was a very strong summit that solved a lot of problems, others thought the entire summit should be scrapped and a whole new summit created in its place. Then of course, there are those who wanted voters to have a chance to speak at the summit, the so-called "public option." Fortunately, there's talk of a bipartisan summit to debate all of these points.
Coverage of the summit continues below, including a via-satellite interview with Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC).
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

Forget Black Friday, Congress Has Been Doing Plenty of Shopping
She said she was gonna do it, and she did it. Per an order from that tricksy Nancy Pelosi, House members' quarterly office expenses are now being posted online, where anyone (i.e., Politico) can read them.House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) spentĀ $2,993 in taxpayer money on flowers between June and October. House Majority Whip James Clyburn has a thing for Chantilly Donuts, spending about $265 at the Virginia shop in the past quarter.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) racked up about $24,617 in catering costs. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) spent about $1,561 in bottled water and House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) spent no money on water but a touch over $18,000 in food. House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) spent about $24,116 on food and beverage.
Cause for concern? Um, yeah. James Clyburn is severely dehydrated and bingeing on doughnuts, what is he thinking? For the love of God, somebody get a case of Poland Spring over to the Rayburn House Office Building, stat!
