Happy National Day of Prayer, America!

Good for you, followers of the adherents of the Abrahamic faiths! It's so heartening to see you still going strong after these past couple of months, which, quite frankly, must have been pretty rough on you. What with the institutionalized child rape, attempted mass murder plots and now growing evidence that the Times Square car-bomber may be an operative from one of your fundamentalist groups…

Officials said that after two days of intense questioning of the bombing suspect, Faisal Shahzad, evidence was mounting that the group, the Pakistani Taliban, had helped inspire and train Mr. Shahzad in the months before he is alleged to have parked an explosives-filled sport utility vehicle in a busy Manhattan intersection on Saturday night. Officials said Mr. Shahzad had discussed his contacts with the group, and investigators had accumulated other evidence that they would not disclose.

So, it's nice to see that you are moving on unfettered with your National Day of Prayer, the one day of the year… when people pray? Or something? I don't know. I personally don't have the moral fortitude to participate in "this magnificent day"…

The 59th annual National Day of Prayer was held Thursday against a backdrop of controversy and growing doubts about the future of the event, which a federal judge recently declared unconstitutional…

"America was birthed in prayer and founded on the God of the Bible, on his biblical principles and on his moral values," Day of Prayer organizer Shirley Dobson said. Dobson blamed the controversy on a "small band of self-proclaimed atheists and agnostics" determined to "take down this magnificent day." If America is going to pray today, I only ask that it pray for a better future when religious groups like the ones mentioned above can practice their faith in peace, without having to worry about persecution from "small band[s] of self-proclaimed atheists and agnostics" like this guy.

Because, really, we're counting on these people to provide us with our "principles and… moral values."

Just another reminder that there is no defeating Haggard's Law. Haggard's Law is one of the fundamentalist laws of the universe! Why, you'd have an easier time reversing the gravitational pull of the supermassive black hole that lies at the heart of our galaxy then keeping a staunchly anti-gay rights religious conservative from getting his stick shift shafted at the secret body shop every thousand or so miles.

James Dobson Inconsolable Over Loss of Religious Freedom of Bigotry

Evangelical leader James Dobson — despite promises to go away — is back again, despairing loudly and melodramatically all over his nice, clean, freshly-pressed flock of radio parishioners, because of this "utter evil that's coming out of the United States Congress"…

I want to tell you up front that we're not going to ask you to do anything, to make a phone call or to write a letter or anything.

There is nothing you can do at this time about what is taking place because there is simply no limit to what the left can do at this time. Anything they want, they get and so we can't stop them.

Wow! When you hear this kind of hyperbole coming out of an understated guy like Dobson, you just know it's gotta be a big deal.

So, what is this blasphemous, anti-Christian, demonically-inspired legislature that the liberal congresspeople have been busy excreting into the federal law books?

The Federal Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009…

The Democratic-led U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday approved an expansion of federal "hate crime" laws — an effort that former Republican President George W. Bush had opposed.

On a vote of 249-175, the House passed and sent to the Senate a bill backed by the new Democratic White House to broaden such laws by classifying as "hate crimes" those attacks based on a victim's sexual orientation, gender identity or mental or physical disability.

What Dobson is justifiably concerned about is the very real possibility that Christians may lose their divinely-mandated right to persecute homosexuals as they best see fit.

Not since the days when Christians were regularly fed to hungry lions to entertain a crowd of bloodthirsty pagans have we seen such dark days for the Lord's children.

James Dobson: Evil Has Triumphed Over Good

Comrades in Evil, today is a day for rejoicing! For sacrificing unborn zygotes and praising our Atheist God! For today  — or a few days ago, actually; I'm just catching up with my Google Reader — we have triumphed over everything  that is Good.

At least, according to mouthpiece for God James Dobson…

James Dobson, 72, who resigned recently as head of Focus on the Family – one of the largest Christian groups in the country – and once denounced the Harry Potter books as witchcraft, acknowledged the dramatic reverse for the religious Right in a farewell speech to staff.

"We tried to defend the unborn child, the dignity of the family, but it was a holding action," he said.

"We are awash in evil and the battle is still to be waged. We are right now in the most discouraging period of that long conflict. Humanly speaking, we can say we have lost all those battles."

Humanity is now doomed — doomed! — to wallow in vile, secular tolerance of differing worldviews and execrable freedom from the authoritarian control of Bronze Age mythologies.

This is obviously a terrible setback for humanity.
