  • The Little Chick-fil-A That Could (Support Gay Pride)

Today — while angrily shaking their fists out the window at Chick-fil-A restaurants they happen to pass while en route to the neighborhood co-op for more quinoa and free-range soy blocks — liberals should be careful to note which state they're in.

Because if they happen to in New Hampshire, then they happen to be angrily shaking their fists at a co-sponsor of the local LGBT Pride Festival

New Hampshire's only Chick-fil-A restaurant is going against the wishes of chicken chain founder Dan Cathy by pledging to co-sponsor an LGBT Pride Festival in the state.

Likewise, social conservatives should be careful not to bring their good God-fearing dollars into the N.H. location or they could find themselves unwittingly supporting such an un-Christian principles as this…

"It would make me sad if someone felt that they were not openly welcomed into my life or restaurant based on their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender," [franchise manager Anthony] Picolia explained.

Personally, I don't think this location should be allowed to call itself Chick-fil-A. For the sake of clarity, I think it should have to call itself Chick-fil-B.

    Or maybe Chick-fil-LGBT?

  • Sarah Palin Defends Chick-fil-A, Still Hazy on First Amendment

Sarah PalinToday is the day! Today is the day that weight-battling social conservative Evangelical Christian former governors all across the country make a special trip to Chick-fil-A to eat a bunch of fried chicken without feeling guilty stand up for traditional marriage values!

And probably a bunch of other people, too. People who support a Biblical interpretation of marriage (all the polygamy and buying wives stuff excluded). People who care about halting the ever-forward progression of society. And, most especially, people who crave publicity. Such as

In an interview on Fox News, [Sarah] Palin defended Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's decision to publicly express his anti-gay marriage views and claimed that the resulting backlash against the company was an affront to free speech.

"Well, that calling for the boycott is a real — has a chilling effect on our 1st Amendment rights," Palin told Fox News' Greta Van Susteren.

It's really nice to hear that Sarah Palin has so much concern for the well-being of the First Amendment. And, luckily for her, the Chick-fil-A boycott actually has no chilling effect on the First Amendment whatsoever! In fact, since the First Amendment protects private citizens' rights to express themselves however they see fit — whether that be through contributing millions of dollars to groups fostered to hold back social progress or through organizing people to halt the flow of money into businesses that funnel money into such groups — it actually supports the First Amendment! Just wait until Palin hears that! She's gonna be so happy…

"And the owner of the Chick-fil-A business had merely voiced his personal opinion about supporting traditional definition of marriage, one boy, one girl, falling in love, getting married. And having voiced support for kind of that cornerstone of all civilization and all religions since the beginning of time, he then basically [is] getting crucified."

To hear her explain it, it sounds so nice. One boy, one girl, falling in love, getting married, working tirelessly to keep minorities from having the same rights as everybody else… Sigh. What a romantic vision of traditional Americana she paints.

  • Quote Unquote: A Bad Investment

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel on one of the decision to block the opening of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the city's 1st ward

    .

"They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents. This would be a bad investment, since it would be empty."

    .

If there's one thing that Chicago is known for, historically speaking, it's tolerance for minorities.

  • Rick Santorum Live-Panders His Meal at Chick-fil-A on Twitter

In America, we hold our fast food restaurants in such high esteem, that we listen to their stances on important social issues. The only scenario in which Chick-fil-A should have a public position on gay marriage is if chickens were gay marrying. And even then, let the chickens live their lives!

Fortunately, politicians like Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum are willing to fight for the right of a giant corporation to hate gay people. Before I embed these tweets, I should warn you, the only thing grosser than imagining Rick Santorum having sex is imagining Rick Santorum eating food…

Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee have done more to convince me not to eat fast food than Michelle Obama ever could.

    .

    At McDonald's they're called Happy Meals. At Chick-fil-A they're called Only-We're-Allowed-To-Be-Happy Meals.

    .

Have you learned nothing, Rick Santorum? You mentioning sauce is not helping people find their appetite!
