Finally, a Plan B Republicans Can Get Behind

See? All it took was an itty-bitty threat to the nation's fragile economic recovery…

House Republican leaders are readying a bill to increase taxes on incomes of $1 million and above as fiscal-cliff talks continue, House Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday. Boehner said President Obama's latest offer on taxes and spending is not balanced and that the Republicans' "plan B" tax bill would be on the House floor this week.

I think this is encouraging. Compromise is an important part of the legislative process, and even though it's not the $250,000-and-up tax hike that Obama first proposed, at least it's a good-faith effort to set aside partisan differences for the good of the country.

That, or it's a terrified reaction to this. Either way.
