Colbert: John McCain Is Now President of New Jersey and Virginia
In light of Tuesday's elections, one thing is abundantly clear: If you want your boring local election to gain unwarranted national weight and prominence, hold it in an off year. Better yet, don't even hold it in November. Move your deputy county comptroller election to April 2011, and watch it become a bellwether referendum on the future of all carbon-based species.
After the jump, coverage of the election results continues with The Daily Show.
The Daily Show and Colbert Report air Monday through Thursday starting at 11pm / 10c.

The Daily Show Nails Cable News Election Panels
As you've now heard, in last night's two high-profile gubernatorial elections, the GOP candidates emerged victoriously in what was a clear referendum against President Obama. Meanwhile, in the closely-watched Congressional race in New York's 23rd District, voters elected a Democrat for the first time in over a century in what was a clear referendum against President Obama. Where did I acquire such keen political insight? Cable news, of course.

Barack Obama Loses New Jersey Gubernatorial Race
This just in: Barack Obama has lost Jon Corzine's New Jersey gubernatorial bid for re-election to Glenn Beck's completely organic, grass roots Tea Party movement…CNN projects that Chris Christie will unseat New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, giving Republicans wins in both races for governor contested Tuesday.
Well, you can't argue with election results. This clearly means something or other of extreme importance in some way or another.
The president truly has let down his party, the country, the mammalian class and the entire Phylum Chordata.

Joe Scarborough's Still Got It!
It's easy to call MSNBC's Joe Scarborough names. For example, here's just a few off the top of my head…* Second string political pundit who couldn't hack it on Capitol Hill
* Disingenuous messenger for the Republican agenda, tempering his views with the political winds to create the false impression of objectivity; and, of course
* Lumpy
But none of those barbs can rob the man of his keen political insight. Offering views on the close New Jersey gubernatorial race, Scarborough writes…
"[T]he Democrats' turnout operation should keep this race tight all night. If the race is instead a blowout, that can only be bad news for the Democrats."
See? Some people couldn't offer that kind of insight. Y'know, people who have spent their entire adult life huffing heavy metal industrial isotopes.
So the next time you're tempted to stick it to old Joe, c'mon, show some respect.

Jon Stewart Covers Indecision 2009
Sure everybody gets excited about the Presidential election years. And the midterms are fun too. But for the hardcore political junkie, there's nothing like the midmidterms. You can have your Senate contest, but nothing gets my blood pumping like a good old fashioned uncontested assistant district assemblyman race. Those are where the real action is.
But, if you're a casual wonk (I stopped having casual wonks after I got crabs), there are still a handful of high profile races today.
