Quote Unquote: Catching Hell
D.C. council member and former-mayor Marion Barry on the plight of the downtrodden…
.
"The Irish caught hell, the Jews caught hell, the Polacks caught hell."
.
What he meant to say, I'm sure, was "untutored Centro-European pseudo-Slavs." Jeeze! Everybody has to be so politically correct nowadays.

Rush Limbaugh on the Obamas' Quest for Reparations
Some cultural figures have the ability to speak truth to power… And then there's Rush Limbaugh. During his radio show yesterday, Limbaugh managed to set rich, white folk back about 97 years, to the release of D. W. Griffith's Birth of a Nation.Like Griffith, Limbaugh uses his soapbox to perpetuate some sadly familiar stereotypes…
"Look at the way the Obamas live, with Michelle with her separate vacations and not being concerned about how much it costs to take separate airplanes, there's no question in my mind that they view this as, whatever else they view it as — as an opportunity to live high on the hog without having it cost them a dime," he continued.
"They justify it by thinking we deserve this, or we're owed this because of what has been done to us or our ancestors — who knows."
So, just to recap, according to Rush Limbaugh the Obamas live like royalty, and they do so because they want money without working for it and their motivation is reparations for slavery.
Never mind that the Obamas had to take separate planes to Hawaii because of Congressional stonewalling. Never mind that Rush Limbaugh's outrage against greed is the dictionary definition of hypocritical.
I could spend paragraphs/pages/volumes/tomes breaking down the logic of this opinion, but why bother? All we can do is laugh.
You remember how to do that, right? It's like what you're doing now, but the exact opposite.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (to Get Gay Married to His Romantic Partner of Many Years)
Some non-depressing news out of Washington D.C. for once…The D.C. Council voted Tuesday to legalize same-sex marriage in the District, as the city moves quickly to join five states in allowing gay couples to marry.
After months of debate, the council passed the bill 11 to 2. It still must take a second vote in two weeks before the measure can go to Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D), who has said he will sign it.
Of the two votes against, one came from cocaine-aficionado former D.C. mayor Marion Barry, who — despite voting against full rights for homosexuals and previously preaching against the morality of gay marriage — wants gays to know that he still would appreciate their votes, please, thank you very much…
"I stand here today to express in no uncertain terms my strong commitment to the gay and lesbian, bisexual, transgender community on almost every issue except this one," Barry said.
He then went on to plead with gay and lesbian residents not to hold his "no" vote against him.
"It's not fair to make this one issue a litmus test as to one's commitment to human rights, to justice, and I resent those who would make it a litmus test," Barry said.
He's so right. It's just not right to be prejudiced against a person simply for one minor issue.
When will gay people stop persecuting that poor man?
