From the Pork Barrel: John Edwards for President

* The Onion endorses John Edwards for President! (This matters about as much as the Salt Lake Tribune's Obama endorsement.)
* Hispanic voters may decide the outcome in three important swing states. Good thing Romney had his son speak in Spanish at the convention. The electoral votes are as good as his!
* I worked really really hard on a joke for this story, so I hope you like it.
* Marriage equality is looking pretty safe in Maryland. If only Omar were around to see this.

From the Pork Barrel: The Joy of Tithing

* Ann Romney says she loves giving tithing 10 percent of the family income to the Mormon Church so much that she cries. Her husband responded, "So do I, but for a different reason." Now that is an actual joke. I think.
* Todd Akin has promised the people of Missouri that he will hang himself limply from Mitt Romney's neck like an albatross all the way till November!
* A Tea Party state legislator who was warned the people of Maryland of how homosexuals will hurt our children got drunk and crashed his boat into another boat full of kids. Is this his way of coming out?
* Download our free iPhone and iPad app Indecision Election Companion and jump up into the the Peanut Gallery — our liveblog/instant reaction arena — to watch and respond with us as Jeb Bush and John McCain sit down with David Gregory to discuss probably a bunch of Republican stuff on NBC's Meet the Press.

From the Pork Barrel: Insourcing Is Destroying the American Dream!

* The Senate is about three steps away from proposing a border fence to keep jobs from entering the United States.
* Actually building such a wall, though, would violate the 112th Congress' solemn oath to do no anything.
* The good news is that Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio finally gets to redeem his name in a court of law. The bad news is they're probably not going to consider brain wave faxes and solid gold hunches admissible as evidence.
* Congratulations, America! You have successfully contributed $1 billion to the presidential campaigns! And less than a third of that came from Sheldon Adelson!
* Download the Indecision Election Companion, our free app for your iPhone and iPad, and climb up into the the Peanut Gallery — our liveblog/instant reaction arena — to watch and respond as Tim Pawlenty explodes his electric personality all over your TV screen this Sunday morning on NBC's Meet the Press.

From the Pork Barrel: A Working Lunch

* The White House just tweeted this photo, in an obvious attempt to show voters that the President is so dedicated to his job that he's taking his meals in the Oval Office.
* Michele Bachmann unveils the liberal lamestream media's transparent scheme to win the health care battle by complimenting Anthony Kennedy for his dreamy transfixing eyes (or something not all that much less silly).
* While we're on the subject of Enquirer-esque revelations from Rep. Bachmann, have you heard about all those Muslim Brotherhood agents who have infiltrated in the DOJ, Homeland Security and NIA?
* A Politico reporter was suspended for making distasteful sensational remarks about a presidential candidate. Odd. Normally, they're given promotions.
* Don't forget to download our Election Companion App for iPhone and iPad and follow along as we liveblog Sen. Marco Rubio on this Sunday's very special episode of Meet the Press on NBC.

Cory Booker Pulls Himself from the Political Fire He Started
A few years ago, the medical community's attention was drawn to the case of Oscar the cat, a resident of a Rhode Island nursing home who had a knack for predicting the deaths of elderly patients. According to the author of an article in the New England Journal of Medicine, Oscar curled up next to the beds of twenty five patients who soon passed away.Yet one obvious explanation was missing from all the speculation. Maybe the cat wasn't psychic. Maybe the cat was the killer.
So it is with Newark Mayor Cory Booker. Perhaps he was in the right place at the right time when he helped chase down an armed robber in 2006. Perhaps Booker's neighbor was lucky that the mayor was there when her home was engulfed in flames.
Or perhaps Booker was the arsonist.
An additional piece of evidence bears out this shocking hypothesis. On Sunday, Booker set off a political firestorm when he equated the Obama campaign's broadsides against Mitt Romney's record at Bain Capital to conservative attacks on Barack Obama's relationship with Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
"I'm not about to sit here and indict private equity," you'd have heard Booker say if you'd downloaded Indecision's Election Companion App for iPhone and iPad and followed our coverage of Meet the Press. "If you look at the totality of Bain Capital's record, it — they've done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses. And this to me — I'm very uncomfortable."
"This kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides," added the guy who may want to run for governor of a state populated by thousands of financial industry workers. "Stop attacking private equity. Stop attacking Jeremiah Wright. This stuff has got to stop."
Now that he'd started the fire, it was time to extinguish it, which Booker attempted to do with a YouTube video explaining that he finds it "reasonable — and in fact I encourage it" for the Obama campaign to examine Romney's Bain record…
It wasn't quite a Romney-esque flip flop — Booker reiterated his "frustration" with negative campaigning. More like pulling his own political career from the flames he'd himself fanned.
