Mitt Romney Will Go Anywhere but the Inauguration

For the first time since 1989, the losing presidential candidate will not be attending the inauguration.
History notes that Michael Dukakis ate a tuna sandwich and watched the '89 proceedings on television, most likely dressed in an oversized tank gunner's helmet.
We don't know how Mitt Romney is spending his time today, but we do know that he has gone plenty of places in the past few months–places that are, apparently, more important than the events in Washington.

Mitt Romney Really Missed His Calling as a Democratic Nominee

What is it with these Massachusetts liberal presidential candidates?
There must be something in the Perrier.

Voting Before You Can Vote
I waited an hour and 15 minutes to vote this morning in Park Slope, Brooklyn. For those of you who have never been to Park Slope, it is serious McCain country. I believe the descendants of the lesbians who invented the bootstrap still live there, weaving hemp American flags every noon to dusk on the corner of 5th Ave. and DeGraw St.Standing on line behind a young couple and their seriously amped up three-year-old reminded me of my first conscious memories — being dragged along to vote with my father in 1988. On the way home I asked him who he voted for. He said, "Michael Dukakis." I said, "Is he going to win."
He said, "No."
Does anyone else have a voting-before-you-could-vote story that dryly amusing? I'll bet not.

The Specter of Michael Dukakis Rears Its Ugly Head
Wow! For a guy who's been off the political radar for about twenty years, you certainly have seen Michael Dukakis' name in the news lately! The former Massachusetts governor and former Democratic nominee for president has been pretty much off the radar screen since losing to George H.W. Bush in 1988. Served on the Amtrak Board of Directors, a little college teaching… you get the idea.
But now he's back!
First off in countless articles previewing tonight's scheduled debate, which unfailingly mention his botched response in a 1988 debate to a bizarre question about the hypothetical rape and murder of his wife.
Then there was the harsh Christopher Hitchens piece in Slate, titled "Is Obama Another Dukakis?" and subtitled "Why is Obama So Vapid, Hesitant, and Gutless?" Ouch!
And finally there was a comparison of Obama to Dukakis by… Dukakis himself!
Seems he did an interview with PolitickerMA.com in which he warned the Democratic nominee against getting the same "Willie Horton" race-bating smears he suffered in 1988.
The only appropriate way to cap off this media blitz would be to take one more ceremonial ride in the tank!
