In Defense of Inanity: More on Last Night's Debate
In contrast to all the overwhelming cloud of disgust blowing in from the mostly liberal writers, conservative columnist David Brooks has another take on last night's Obama/Clinton debate…"I understand the complaints, but I thought the questions were excellent. The journalist's job is to make politicians uncomfortable, to explore evasions, contradictions and vulnerabilities. Almost every question tonight did that. The candidates each looked foolish at times, but that's their own fault.
"We may not like it, but issues like Jeremiah Wright, flag lapels and the Tuzla airport will be important in the fall. Remember how George H.W. Bush toured flag factories to expose Michael Dukakis. It's legitimate to see how the candidates will respond to these sorts of symbolic issues."
I have to admit that Brooks definitely has a point.
A bunch of stupid shit will almost certainly be one of the main issues in the upcoming election.

NewsBusters Busts the News with New NewsBusted Fake News Show
Are you still super-depressed about the untimely demise of Fox News' Half Hour News Hour? Well, have I got some good news for you…
NewsBusters — the conservative news busting website — has its own online comedy news show called NewsBusted, another right-wing attempt at having unseasoned comedians deliver hilarious fake news headlines in a stilted and schmaltzy fashion. And I don't think I need to tell you that it's just as funny as you'd imagine it would be…
There's a quick shot in the opening credits of a phantom audience laughing at something, so you'd better believe that canned-sounding laughter is 100% real. This is listed as episode number 150, which of course means it's the fiftieth episode.
All in all, I give NewsBusted a B+. It's funny and all, in a very broad sense of the word "funny," but I'd like to see more jokes about John Kerry and Michael Dukakis. That stuff's gold!
