Happy National Voter Registration Day!

Today's the day when people all across America pull their Democracy Bludgeons from the back of the closet and take to the streets with torches burning to hunt down the mean old Disenfranchisement Gnome and beat him with an inch of his life, while the children sing and dance and gorge themselves with sweet corn paste treats. That's right, it's Voter Registration Day!
On the off chance that you have not yet registered to vote, there is no better day in the whole year to right that wrong. In fact, some people think that's the whole reason this day exists. (Others believe it to have its origins in paganism.)
MTV's Power of 12 website has even set up a webpage to make the process as easy and painless as possible. So, you really have no excuse.
And remember, if you don't vote, the Disenfranchisement Gnome will make off with your spleen in the middle of the night.

Fantasy Election '12 Is Here!

If there's one thing American politics needs, it's increased accountability. (If there are two things it needs, it's more Herman Cain.)
Unfortunately Herman's gone, but there's still hope for accountability! That's why MTV's Power of 12 is unveiling the new Fantasy Election '12 game. Similar to Fantasy Football, it allows you to draft your own team of political candidates. But instead of gaining points for touchdowns and losing them for interceptions, they earn points by telling the truth and lose them by mudslinging.
Starting today, you can compete for over 3,000 prizes, including $25,000 and a trip to the VMAs. So get the game, and be sure to follow Power of 12 here: @mtvpowerof12.

"Jersey Shore" Cast Discusses the Finer Points of Political Theory
Say what you will about this Funny or Die clip of MTV's Jersey Shore cast talking politics, but it's about the level of discourse you'll find on Fox News Sunday. And the acting is maybe a little more believable…
In case you're not yet registered to vote — no judgement, maybe you've just been busy these past several years fighting off dinosaurs on a remote tropical island, keeping a bus from falling below the speed of 50 mph or something else equally valid — you can get registered right now with MTV's Power of 12 voter registration tool.

The Secret Identities of U.S. Presidents
In honor of the newly-released biopic Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, MTV's Power of 12 political blog compiled a list of some of our country's greatest presidents' secret identities, including George Washington, Martin Van Buren and…Mitt [Romney] has a lot in common with the patriotic superhero. First off, it's not often politicians are this physically fit. His references to "America’s superpowers" is also something one would expect from the Cap'n.
Romney recently announced that, if elected, he would allot 25 billion federal dollars to kindergarten through 12th graders, allowing them to attend any school of their choosing. You could say he's making each student the captain of his or her own education!
Granted, Mitt Romney is not technically a U.S. President. Not today at any rate. And possibly not next year, either. But, if you saw Captain America: The First Avenger movie, you know that the character ends up riding this big loud expensive thing that crashes spectacularly sending him into a 70-year catatonic stasis before he's ultimately re-awakened and asked to help save the country. So, take that as you will.
And what secret identity do you suspect our nation's geekiest Commander-in-Chief would harbor?
Obama hasn't done a very good job keeping his Jedi status on the DL. From wielding a light saber in public to his unusually quick reflexes (remember the fly swat?), we’re pretty sure his "Hawaiian upbringing" is just a cover up for his time spent at the Jedi Academy.
That's a good guess. Though, personally, I'd have gone with President Who. I'm relatively certain I saw him stepping out of a Tardis before one of those Rose Garden addresses.

From the Pork Barrel: Bill Maher Indoctrinates Our Youth
* Bill Maher surprised a Political Science class at UCLA for MTV's Stand In. If that doesn't confirm all of Rick Santorum's fears about liberal indoctrination, I don't know what will.
* Thank God for Rush Limbaugh. Without him, we'd never have found out that Barack Obama once shoved a girl back in the 5th grade. Unless we read Obama's autobiography.
* Looks like Michele Bachmann's Swiss citizenship plan just got… poked full of holes.
* If Bill Clinton was our first black president, does that mean Barack Obama will be our first gay president?
* Don't forget to download our Election Companion App for iPhone and iPad – use it to follow along for our weekly Sunday liveblog. In this week's Very Special Mother's Day edition Ilya Gerner and his mother will be co-blogging Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Fox News Sunday at 10am/9c.
