One of a Kind Candidate: Tim O'Flaherty, State Representative, Manchester, NH

New Hampshire, you are a weird granite nut to crack. Remember when a group of people calling themselves Free Staters piled into a van and moved to New Hampshire, where they planned turn the state into America's #1 libertarian stronghold?
The Free Staters are still outnumbered by Regular Staters, but according to the New Hampshire Union Leader, they're sneaking into state races like sneaky little sneaksters. Take Tim O'Flaherty, a Free Stater who's running for state rep in Manchester as a Democrat against Republican Free Stater Dan Garthwaite, who is also Tim's roommate. There are so many more layers to this onion.

5 Signs of an Unbearable Day from Dixville Notch
While some of us were busy hitting refresh on the latest polling results, hoping to get a hit of some swing-state survey methadone before the heroin of actual voting results became available later this evening, the good people of two New Hampshire hamlets were already casting their ballots. The voting in Dixville Notch, the more hilariously named of the two towns, was a tie, five to five. Barack Obama carried the other hamlet, Hart's Location with 23 votes to 9 for Mitt Romney and 1 for Gary Johnson.
Surely, the fate of New Hampshire's four electoral votes will be decided in Cooter's Hollow and Cockville Snatch, but what do the results from Dixville Notch mean right now?

Mitt Romney Now Winning, According to Mitt Romney's Numbers

Well, this is a relief. After weeks and weeks of different polling firms compiling mountains of data showing Obama with consistent leads in swing states, finally, on the eve of the election, everything turned around and now Romney is the clear favorite to win everything.
And not a minute too soon, am I right?

Sheriff Candidate No Longer Advocates Killing Abortion Doctors
Good news, everyone! Turns out that Frank Szabo — a candidate for sheriff of New Hampshire's Hillsborough County — does not believe that the U.S. Constitution gives county sheriffs the right to shoot down doctors who attempt to give women legal and consented abortions…In a written statement, Szabo today said he has reflected on the "unacceptable public comments" he made yesterday, and retracted the idea that he would use deadly force to stop an abortion doctor and apologized to the people of New Hampshire for so carelessly losing track of what he was saying.
Yes, that is an actual thing that was actually written about an actual sheriff candidate. Because — believe it or not –yesterday, Szabo actually for real no-kidding said this…

The Little Chick-fil-A That Could (Support Gay Pride)
Today — while angrily shaking their fists out the window at Chick-fil-A restaurants they happen to pass while en route to the neighborhood co-op for more quinoa and free-range soy blocks — liberals should be careful to note which state they're in.
Because if they happen to in New Hampshire, then they happen to be angrily shaking their fists at a co-sponsor of the local LGBT Pride Festival…
New Hampshire's only Chick-fil-A restaurant is going against the wishes of chicken chain founder Dan Cathy by pledging to co-sponsor an LGBT Pride Festival in the state.
Likewise, social conservatives should be careful not to bring their good God-fearing dollars into the N.H. location or they could find themselves unwittingly supporting such an un-Christian principles as this…
"It would make me sad if someone felt that they were not openly welcomed into my life or restaurant based on their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender," [franchise manager Anthony] Picolia explained.
Personally, I don't think this location should be allowed to call itself Chick-fil-A. For the sake of clarity, I think it should have to call itself Chick-fil-B.
Or maybe Chick-fil-LGBT?
