Obama Administration in Bed with the Media, Literally
With just around three months to go until Election Day, it's more important than ever for the Obama administration to keep the press on their side so as to hold back the torrent of bad economical news that is ever-waiting to wash destructively over the White House. There's lots of ways they can accomplish this: They can try to win them over with charm, they can offer them tips and exclusive info, or they can simply get cozy with them outside from the press room.Though, this seems a tad excessive…
A deputy press secretary for Barack Obama's reelection campaign married an ABC reporter over the weekend. The ABC reporter, Matthew Jaffe, "covering the 2012 presidential campaign," according to his biography on the website of ABC News…
The deputy press secretary Jaffe married is Katie Hogan. Many members of Obama's reelection team and the press celebrated the wedding together Saturday.
This is a mistake! The media is too young, has too much of its life ahead of it to be settling for one presidential administration now! It needs to go out and see other administrations! What we need to do is grab the media, throw it into the trunk of our car and drive it down to Mexico for one wild weekend of reporting on foreign administrations! Whattaya say?! Let's do it!

Neil Barofsky's "Bailout": Tim Geithner Is Sweaty, Dismissive
Neil Barofsky, former Special Inspector General in charge of oversight of TARP, has written a juicy new book about the bailout and how it was handled–mishandled, rather, which is where the juicy parts come in.We got an advance copy of Bailout: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street, hitting shelves July 24. So what have we learned about the little (not little) bailout that could (or couldn't)?
Neil Barofsky is kind of a dick. Barofsky's former boss, U.S. Attorney Mike Garcia, had this to say about his employee's appointment as SIGTARP: "You can be kind of a dick sometimes, and they needed someone who could be kind of a dick."
Tim Geithner is a dick. Here is a partial list of words and phrases Barofsky uses to describe Tim Geithner and/or Tim Geithner's actions: "brusque," "bizarre," "sweaty," "twitchy," "utterly dismissive." Alas, the world may never know how Neil Barofsky really feels about Tim Geithner.

Homeland Security to Let Arizona's Calls Go to Voice Mail

You know that one friend of yours — and, to be honest, you're not even sure how you became friends, but now you are and there's no taking it back — who over-reacts about everything and calls you every fifteen minutes to tell you about the newest atrocity that he/she's experiencing? What do you do when you see their name pop up on your cell phone? You're not proud of it, but almost apologetically you whisper "Not now," to no one in particular and quickly slip the phone back into your pocket.
With that in mind, you may now read this news blurb about the White House's plan for dealing with Arizona in the wake of yesterday's Supreme Court decision on immigration…
The Obama administration said Monday it is suspending existing agreements with Arizona police over enforcement of federal immigration laws, and said it has issued a directive telling federal authorities to decline many of the calls reporting illegal immigrants that the Homeland Security Department may get from Arizona police.
Administration officials, speaking on condition they not be named, told reporters they expect to see an increase in the number of calls they get from Arizona police — but that won't change President Obama's decision to limit whom the government actually tries to detain and deport.
"We will not be issuing detainers on individuals unless they clearly meet our defined priorities," one official said in a telephone briefing.
I have a feeling Homeland Security's inbox is gonna get maxed out pretty quickly.

The Daily Show on Barack Obama's Gay Marriage "Evolution"
I kind of understand why Obama is being so trepidatious in its continually evolving support for marriage equality. After all, gay marriage is just a theory.
