The Lie that Out-Lied All the Other Lies in 2009

Rejoice, boys and girls! The helpful elves at PolitiFact have been busy in their truth factory, reviewing thousands of lies, near-lies, half-truths and "You lie"s that politicians spewed in the past 11.75 months.And the most un-true untruth of of all?
"Death panels."
The claim set political debate afire when it was made in August, raising issues from the role of government in health care to the bounds of acceptable political discussion. In a nod to the way technology has transformed politics, the statement wasn't made in an interview or a television ad. Sarah Palin posted it on her Facebook page.
Good choice. Although they could've also gone with "Sarah Palin's Facebook page is legitimate fodder for political debate."
