Barack Obama Breaks Reddit
See? Further proof that this guy destroys businesses…President Obama participated in a surprise open question-and-answer session this afternoon on the Web community Reddit, as the subject of one of the site's regular "Ask Me Anything" threads. Reddit's site experienced some outages immediately following the announcement, due to increased traffic.
Damn. I was excited to learn what wisdom would come from the President of the United States' interaction with people like SharkGirl and GoldenGraham12.
This may haunt me.

Quote Unquote: Corporate Decency
CNN commentator and former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin, on Anderson Cooper 360 last night, in response to Reddit exercising its First Amendment rights and not shutting down some user-generated "potentially illegal" (read as: "legal") corners of its website — such as r/jailbait and r/asianjailbait — that many may deem as being in poor taste…
"Even if they aren't [technically in violation of any actual laws], don't we want them to be good corporate citizens? What happened to decency? What happened to corporations doing the right thing?"
I should point out that she was not saying that in jest.
Also, time spent on Anderson Cooper's show last night wringing hands over "the possibility that somebody somewhere might be looking at sexually suggestive photos of your teenage child" on the Internet: 8 minutes.
Time spent on Anderson Cooper's show all told covering the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations – protesting "negative corporate influence over U.S. politics" — that have been happening 5 miles from the CNN studios in New York City for the past two weeks: 0 minutes.

Reddit Is Not Mad at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Reddit Says
Alright, America! Calm down! Just calm the eff down! I said CALM DOWN!!!
I know we're all on edge about this apparent huge dust-up in which Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, according to Fark's Drew Curtis, apparently dissing Reddit — the online community that helped spread the word about the rally for lo these many months — in their press post-conference conference on Saturday. (I know! My heart is being downvoted right to the pit of my stomach.)
And look! Fox News is reporting it in this post called "Jon Stewart Slaps the Internet in the Face." This must be an incredibly real issue…
Fark.com founder Drew Curtis is incensed that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert haven't given the online community due credit for the success of the Rally to Restore Sanity.
The rally, co-hosted by the Comedy Central comedians, drew a crowd estimated at 250,000 this past Saturday on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. — a crowd inspired and fueled by community activism on Fark.com and online bookmarking site Reddit. Yet when Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian asked Stewart what role the Internet played in convincing him to hold the rally, the response was clear: "it didn't hurt."
Oh, my! Reddit must simply be in a tizzy! They must have gotten a fainting couch for their fainting couch over this!
If only there were somebody from Reddit to explain exactly how red hot their anger is over this slight. Like, maybe Reddit admin Mike "Raldi" Schiraldi…
I appreciate Drew Curtis' looking out for us, but honestly, we had a great time and don't really care about who gets the credit.
At "best", we convinced Comedy Central to pull the trigger on something they were kicking around indecisively and might have otherwise not done.
At "worst", they were totally committed to doing it anyway and we "just" pulled off an incredible donation movement for a really good cause, beefed up attendance numbers, and got to meet hundreds of redditors in person.
I think I speak for all the staff when I say that we love Jon and Stephen, regret nothing, and don't feel anyone owes us an apology.
Edit: That said, Fark is cool and we like Drew. : )
Wow! That is some real explosive anger right there! I'm not sure what that symbol at the end means, but I think it's some kind of a bow and a couple grenades. Like, a grenade-shooting bow, I think. I'm pretty sure. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few grenade-shooting bows in my time.
