Hello and welcome to our very last post of 2012. Thanks for reading, commenting, following us on Twitter, liking us on Facebook and following us on Tumblr. What better way to review the year that's almost past than with an exclusive interview?

Indecision: Hi, 2012. Thanks for talking with us.

    2012: [stares, dazedly]

Indecision: It's okay. You've been through a lot.

2012: I'm so tired. I'm just so tired.

  • Blogging Tips for Rick Santorum

Just when you thought the marketplace for online opinion journalism couldn't get more competitive, Rick Santorum is joining WordNetDaily, the Internet home for birthers and black helicopter conspiracies, as an "exclusive columnist" (read: blogger no one else would hire). His "commentaries" (blog posts) will be published each Monday.

In the spirit of friendly competition, here are some tips for my fellow-blogger Rick.

    1. It's all about the search engine optimization. You should know this, as your entire presidential run was an SEO campaign aimed at dealing with a certain Google problem. So write more exciting headlines!

  • Senate Republicans Oppose the Right to Rock

At first glance, Senate Republican opposition to ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities — a U.N. treaty signed by George W. Bush in 2006 and reaffirmed by Barack Obama in 2009 but not yet approved two-thirds of the Senate — seems self-explanatory.

There's their abiding hatred of the U.N. and concern for the "sovereignty" of the U.S. And there's the fact that they've already pissed off every minority demographic group in America. Having lost the 2012 election by an 87% margin among African Americans, 47% among Asians, 44% among Hispanics and 54% among gays and lesbians, Republicans have naturally set their sights on pissing off disabled Americans for much the same reason obsessive nerds buy Superman IV: Quest For Peace: it's about completeness.

But at a press conference, Senator Mike Lee of Utah, former senator Rick Santorum and Michael Farris of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) laid out more reasons for their opposition to the CRPD.

  • Rick Santorum Is "Open" to Idea of Maybe Running Again in 2016

Hey look, guys. I know it seems like a real long shot, but we can't give up hope. There's still a small but slight chance that Rick Santorum might maybe possibly perchance consider running for president again in four years.

Which is to say he's definitely doing it

"I'm open to it, yeah," Santorum replied. "I think there's a fight right now as to what the soul of the Republican party's going to be and the conservative movement, and we have something to say about that. I think from our battle, we're not going to leave the field."

In 2012, Santorum won nearly 4 million votes and 11 GOP primary contests — the same number of states, he pointed out, Ronald Reagan won in his failed 1976 presidential bid.

You know, I was gonna say, that guy really loses like Reagan. There's something so Reagan-esque in the way he fails to get things that he desperately wants. There's a certain Gipper-ishness in how he sets out goals and then comes up short of achieving them.

Oh yeah, I see it. This guy is going places.

  • Rick Santorum in Favor of Killing, Eating Big Bird

Rick SantorumMitt Romney's Big Bird quip during Wednesday night's debate has been the subject of a fair amount of mockery on the web this week.

Luckily, he's got surrogates like Rick Santorum to back him up

"I've voted to kill Big Bird in the past," Romney's ex-primary rival said. "I have a record there that I have to disclose. That doesn't mean I don't like Big Bird. You can kill things and still like them, maybe to eat them, I don't know. That's probably that. Can we — can we go back on that one?"

No need. I think you nailed it.
