  • Sarah Palin to Visit Real America on "One Nation" Country-Wide Bus Tour

Aw, man! It just keeps getting better and better!

Yesterday, we found out that Sarah Palin found out about Sarah Palin's cinematic ode to Sarah Palin, and today we're getting word of Sarah Palin's nationwide tour in support of Sarah Palin

In a move designed to propel her closer to a presidential run, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will set out on a bus tour of the country on Sunday, making stops at symbolic sites along the way.

"Starting this weekend, Sarah Palin will embark on a 'One Nation' tour of historical sites that were key to the formation, survival, and growth of the United States of America," SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford said in a statement to RealClearPolitics. "The tour will originate in Washington, D.C. It will proceed north up the east coast."…

Members of Palin's immediate family are expected to join her on the trip, which will eventually take her through key early-voting states.

Of course Palin's family members "are expected to join her on the trip." Why would they not be? That would be like Gallagher going on tour without his sledgehammer and crate of watermelons.

Can you even imagine the crushing disappointment that would be experienced by her fans if they left the show without being splattered mawkish sentimentality. That's what you go to see her for. Everybody knows that!

  • The Return of That Other Birther Conspiracy

Remember back when people used to actually spend their valuable time discussing whether or not well-documented serial liar Sarah Palin was also lying about who actually gave birth to her son Trig as if that were a thing that even mattered a little bit compared to all the other terrible things that we know for sure about her?

    You know, five minutes ago

Professor Bradford Scharlott of Northern Kentucky University has looked into this story in detail and written a long academic article about it. He concludes two things: First, that the "conspiracy theory" is likely true–Sarah Palin staged a huge hoax, and, second, the American media is pathetic for not pursuing the story more aggressively.

Scharlott's article walks through all the evidence supporting the theory, including the photos of Palin in what is said to have been a late-stage pregnancy, the leisurely 20-hour trip home that Palin took after she supposedly went into labor in Texas, the refusal of the hospital where Trig was supposedly born to even confirm that he was born there (let alone who was the mother), strange statements from Palin's doctor and the McCain campaign, and so on.

And Scharlott concludes that, given that this hoax would be a massive fraud perpetrated on the entire country by a vice-presidential candidate, the media absolutely should have pursued the story more aggressively.

Well I appreciate that this professor wants to spend his resources in getting to the bottom of something that so interests him and many Americans. You know more power to him. He's not just throwin’ stones from the sidelines… So, you know, more power to him.

  • Seth MacFarlane Responds to Sarah Palin's Response to Important Cartoon Controversy

Believe it or not, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has responded to Sarah Palin about whatever whatever whatever. To be totally honest, I can't even dredge up the energy to pretend to make like I kind of care about this stupid manufactured Palintroversy or what comes out of MacFarlane's huge hamhock head on a Monday afternoon. Isn't there some piece of tin foil in need of chewing that could be a better use of my time?

I realize that in this sad and confusing world, everybody needs distractions and make-believe things to care about, but some really are more exhausting than others. And this one is zombifyingly exhausting (which probably actually means something if you think about it long enough).

To my mind, Gawker's Foster Kamer explained the situation best

    Like clockwork:

    1. Seth MacFarlane makes "controversial" episode of thing meant to entertain with Sarah Palin joke.

    2. Sarah Palin joke elicits Sarah Palin reaction on internet and TV.

    3. Sarah Palin reaction elicits Seth MacFarlane reaction.

    4. Separate reactions of Sarah Palin and Seth McFarlane are yielded by "controversy," producing more "controversy."

    5. More "controversy" yields NYT story.

    6. Family Guy gets press, Sarah Palin gets soapbox, Fox gets viewers for Palin's argument on Fox News and for Family Guy's ratings, worthy cause gets talked about more. Everybody "wins."

Wake me up when President Palin has Peter Griffin shipped off to Guantanamo Bay for re-education.

  • The Smartest Thing Said Thus Far in Sarah Palin's War Against a Word

Somehow, it makes perfect sense that, in the battle of minds between Sarah Palin and the cartoon show over making fun of people with Down Syndrome, the actual winner actually turned out to be the actual person who actually has actual Down Syndrome

My name is Andrea Fay Friedman. I was born with Down syndrome. I played the role of Ellen on the "Extra Large Medium" episode of Family Guy that was broadcast on Valentine's day. Although they gave me red hair on the show, I am really a blonde. I also wore a red wig for my role in " Smudge" but I was a blonde in "Life Goes On". I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line "I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska" was very funny. I think the word is "sarcasm."

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

Gov. Palin, would you care to respond?
