  • Bristol Palin Is Getting Her Own Reality Show Because of Course She Is

If Bristol Palin isn't the embodiment of the American dream, I don't know who is.

In what other country can an unmarried teenage mother with no discernible talent or personality work her way up from a lowly multimillion dollar job as the face of Big Abstinence to become an actual reality TV star? What a country!

I just hope that this rising starlet's new show isn't so far-fetched and fiction-based as to be bordering on insulting

[S]he has settled on her follow-up to Dancing [with the Stars], a docu-series for BIO Channel, which reunites her with fellow Dancing contestant, actor Kyle Massey. BIO has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of the untitled series, which also will feature Massey's brother, actor Christopher Massey.

It follows Bristol Palin’s move from Alaska to Los Angeles with her son, Tripp, to work at a small charity in need while living with her good friends Chris and Kyle Massey.

    Nope! Totally reality-based!

I wonder if she'll be fighting vampires in her down time. Or should they maybe save that for the second season?

  • Choose Your Side in the Bristol Palin-Levi Johnston Battle: Team People or Team US?

Who can figure out what's going on with Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston's on-again-off-again-oh-are-we-talking-about-this-again true love engagement for people who love each other? Today, it looks like they're not getting married. But who knows what tomorrow will bring?

And besides, whether or not these two young people decide to spend their life together isn't the real issue here. Right? The real issue is which gossip magazine will have the final say over the events of their lives?

People reported on July 26 that Bristol was "taking Levi Back." US followed up and advanced the story up with its "We're Getting Married!" cover and an interview with the couple.

For a moment, it looked like US had won the war. But it was People who triumphed in the celeb weekly battle with its Tuesday confirmation that Bristol had called off her engagement with Levi…

[I]t does seem that there's a clear line in the sand: The Palin camp prefers People while the Johnston camp goes for US.

My heart breaks over this. I sincerely hope that these two magazines can come to some kind of amicable arrangement, if for no other reason than the sake of the baby. It's just not right to raise a child in two separate publications. What ever happened to family values?

  • Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin Are Getting Married! And Sarah Palin Has No Idea That It's Happening!

You know the old story: Boy meets girl. Boy impregnates girl. Boy brands himself as "fuckin' redneck" on MySpace page. Girl's mother is chosen as Republican nominee Vice President of the United States of America. Girl's mother becomes once-in-a-generation political folk sensation. Boy is forced into engagement with girl and is made to stand in front of entire country trying to look happy about it. Girl's mother loses election. Girl has son. Boy leaves girl. Boy becomes gay icon. Girl becomes, against all logic, spokesperson for conservative Christian abstinence-only education campaign. Boy is cut off from son. Boy claims girl's mom refers to one of her children as "retarded." Boy gets naked for Playgirl. Girl's mother is revealed to have been stockpiling money for upcoming presidential campaign. Boy suddenly, for no apparent reason, returns to girl. Boy tells own family in public statement that they will be dead to him if they keep saying mean things about girl's family. Boy marries girl.

We've seen it a thousand times, but it still somehow gets us right here in the heart…

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married. And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans … until now.

"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."

Oh, isn't it romantic?! And not-at-all straining the already-severely-frayed fabric of credulity that they didn't even bother to get the approval of their parents, one of whom is very likely to be the next GOP presidential nominee?! I find that highly believable and sweet!

  • Levi Johnston Has Been Wholly Digested by the Palin Family

The pod Palin people have got to Levi! Game over, man! Game over!

"Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true," he tells People exclusively.

"I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize."

Hmmmmm… Maybe I'm being unfair to Johnston. I suppose it's possible that I'm too quickly jumping to the conclusion that there's some degree of coercion just barely visible just beneath the surface of that not-at-all-written-for-him-by-a-PR-firm statement to People Magazine. Maybe Levi is being completely sincere in this all-of-a-sudden 180-degree public about-face we've seen in the past couple weeks.

Oh, what's this? Why, it appears to be an excerpt from a post by Levi's sister Mercede Johnston, who has recently promised to "answer all questions related to the Palin family" in blog-form. I think that I will read it…

The message was from my mother saying that Levi, who has not spoken to us since he rekindled his relationship with Bristol (although we had attempted repeatedly to call or text him), left a message saying that if I did not take my blog down by Wednesday that I would never get to see him, or Tripp, again.

I could not believe it! I thought to myself if he was really willing to make such a threat that he would at least have the decency to call me and talk about it first. I mentioned on my blog repeatedly that my intention was not to hurt or attack the Palins, but to speak out and tell the public my side of the story. As well as how badly my life, and the lives of our family members, had been impacted by our association with the Palins.

It had my mind spinning. How could my brother threaten me like this?

He's not your Levi Johnston anymore! Quickly, sever his head and drive a moose steak through his heart! Do it now, you fool!

  • Quote Unquote: The Plight of the Single Mom

Candie's ambassador and professional abstinence spokesperson Bristol Palin on the difficult life of a single mother

"I'm on my own. I'm really proud of it. I'm a hard worker. I don't have time for friends or anything like that. It's just like, Right, crap, there is a hockey game tonight that I want to go to but I can't. Or, I do have to go to work today, because I've got bills to pay."

It breaks my heart to think of all the celebrity daughters of cultural juggernauts out there in the exact same position.
