As you've now heard, in last night's two high-profile gubernatorial elections, the GOP candidates emerged victoriously in what was a clear referendum against President Obama. Meanwhile, in the closely-watched Congressional race in New York's 23rd District, voters elected a Democrat for the first time in over a century in what was a clear referendum against President Obama. Where did I acquire such keen political insight? Cable news, of course.

I work by myself at home, so you'd probably assume there wouldn't be much in the way of workplace romances going on around here. And you'd be right, though my coffee cup told me yesterday that he heard my microwave hooked up with my ottoman, but you didn't hear that from me. Meanwhile, it sounds like there's plenty of action going on around the Daily Show offices.

We have a black President, there are fewer than 500 of us in Congress, and the number-one movie over the weekend was a cartoon about an Asian-American boy and a cantankerous old lesbian in a flying house. Add to that the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, and white men are now basically the American equivalent of Native Americans.
