They're not exactly rooting for Barack Obama, but prominent white supremacists anticipate a boost to their cause if he becomes the first black president. His election, they say, would trigger a backlash — whites rising up, a revolution of sorts — that they think is long overdue….

"Obama is a visual aid for White Americans who just don't get it yet that we have lost control of our country, and unless we get it back we are heading for complete annihilation as a people," [said former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.]

Classy!

Let's not forget that in 1991 the not-inimitable-enough Mr. Duke came within a runoff of being governor of Louisiana. Of all places!

Looking ahead, don't be surprised to see the White Supremacists bring their support all the way to Obama headquarters in Chicago. Historical precedent would suggest a parade in the neighboring village of Skokie.

But far be it from me to lecture Nazis on how to rally.
