Health Care

According to the newly released Senate healthcare bill, Democrats want to pay for reform by taxing so-called "Cadillac insurance plans." Which sounds good, until you remember GM filed for bankruptcy this year. "Cadillac" doesn't exactly mean what it used to. In fact, I'm pretty sure this means they're paying for healthcare reform by taxing Medicaid. Either way, Stephen Colbert has a fool-proof plan to protect his money from the socialist taxocrats.

Last night, Joe Biden made his first appearance on The Daily Show since being elected Vice President of these United States of A, and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed. The interview lasted 14 minutes and there weren't any of the hilarious gaffes I've come to expect from the Veep. He didn't call Khalid Sheikh Mohammed "a pretty okay guy once you get to know him." He didn't accidentally blurt out missile codes. Hell, it didn't even look like his shoelaces were tied together. What a let down.

On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart pointed out that Sean Hannity has been passing off footage from Glenn Beck's 9/12 rally as footage of a recent health care reform protest. It's certainly troubling. I don't know what to believe about Sean Hannity now. For all we know, his never-ending manipulative, bigoted, nationalistic, disingenuous, opportunistic rabble-rousing was stolen from someone else.

Say what you will about Kit Bond's politics, you have to admit the dude has a cool name. Though, before anyone gets too carried away, it should be noted that Kit is just his nickname. His birth name is Fonzie Karate Bond. Anyway, if you enjoyed Jon Stewart's interview with the Missouri Senator on last night's Daily Show, you won't want to miss this extended version.

As you know, House Democrats recently passed a health care reform bill, despite fierce opposition from the GOP. Honestly, I don't know how they pulled it off when the Republicans were pulling out the big guns: Leis and babies. After all, who can forget that famous proverb, "If you spout non sequiturs about flower necklaces and awkwardly exploit your grandchildren by the river long enough, eventually you'll see the body of your enemy float by"?
Stephen Colbert's take can be found below.

Though he's officially listed as an Independent, since losing the 2006 Democratic Senate primary, Joe Lieberman has referred to himself as an "Independent Democrat." But as a war hawk and an opponent of a public health care option, many wonder if Lieberman maintains any tendencies of a Democrat at all. But I'd remind them that he is still a milquetoast douchebag. So there's that.
Below, more coverage of Joe Lieberman and the health care debate from The Colbert Report and Daily Show.
