You know, those moments in which you just had to step back and say, "Um, what exactly are we talking about here?" When people kind of seemed to be losing track of what we (or who) we were actually voting on.

In fact, she probably succeeded greater than any politician of modern day to fascinate and bewilder Democrats and Republicans alike. In the relatively short span of time in which she was involved in the 2008 presidential race, she had more great moments than many politicians have in a lifetime.

* Joe Biden for guaranteeing a manufactured crisis testing Obama's mettle within his first six months in office. (Cube)

* Eliot Spitzer for nailing a hot call girl and not defending himself. (Cube)

* Fred Thompson for coughing and sleeping instead of campaigning. (Cube)

* Barack Obama for his choice for the faux Parthenon at the Democratic National Convention. (Cube)

* Elizabeth Dole for stating that her opponent didn't believe in God when she was in fact a Sunday School teacher. (Bob, I mean Cube)

(Jeeze, I wonder which nominator is gonna win this one.)

Plus, it's usually pretty funny.

Just thinking back through the past couple election cycles, we can come up with a number of really choice fuck-ups without even thinking that hard (which we never do).

* Sen. George Allen calling a some Indian dude with a camera a "macaca." That didn't help his election chances.

* Gov. Howard Dean yelping like a barbarian in front of a flock of TV cameras. Still being made fun of.

* Alan Keyes ever seriously running for anything. Hilarious.

Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann for channeling Joseph McCarthy by implying that the Obamas held anti-American views and calling for media investigation into other members of Congress to see whether they were pro- America or anti-America. (NoLongerDesperate)

1) not being able to afford to purchase the company he mentioned in his question,
2) the company he mentioned did not gross more than $100,000,
3) trying to paint Obama as a Socialist because he wants poorer people to pay a lower tax rate, and

Rush Limbaugh for suggesting Obama was off to forge a birth certificate in Hawaii days before his grandmother died. (Cube)

Keith Olbermann for not sticking to sports, lifting the sign-off from Murrow, sullying the name of NBC, and doing the same exact shtick he criticizes FOX for doing. (Cube)

The lunatic fringe of Ron Paul supporters for irrevocably damaging the public image of Dr. Paul and ruining his chances to be the Republican nominee. (Jim)

Barack Obama for being a Muslim, Arab, too-black, not-black-enough, Communist, socialist, Marxist, non-flag-pin-wearing, baby-killing, Hamas-endorsed, appeasement-practicing, elitist, community-organizing, eloquent, big-eared man who pals around with terrorists and can't bowl. (colbertmyantidrug)

All those lovely, soft-spoken, reasonable PUMAs whose passionate support of Hillary Clinton threatened to derail Obama's bid for the presidency. (NoLongerDesperate)
