Election Day

We know that November 3, 2009 isn't a real Election Day. But still, we can all pretend. Right? Take a look at these six elections and let us know how much you care.

Sexy Pics of People We Saw Who Are Not Charlize Theron

POSTED BY: Michael Kraskin

On Tuesday, we posted a whole slew of sexy pictures of Charlize Theron who "spoke" at a pro-labor event here in Denver.

Believe it or not, our trip here hasn't only been movie stars pretending to care about stuff.  We've also seen some honest to goodness politicians who might actually care about stuff like Rep. Mike Michaud of Maine, and Teamster leader James Hoffa, who also attended the event with Ms. Theron.

In the Big Tent, several folks have dropped by. Below are Sen. Dick Durbin, the Senate Majority Whip from Illinois, and Sen. John Tester of Montana mixing it up with the liberal bloggers.

And lastly, Senator Ben Cardin of Maine Maryland* spoke at The Dark Court Panel Discussion.

Check back for more pictures later today.

* @ Harold. Maryland is my home state too.  This is what happens when you don't sleep for 3 nights straight. Still had Michaud on the mind I guess…

Charlize Theron (pics) Cares About Labor, Not From Antarctica

POSTED BY: Michael Kraskin

I just got back from a Congressional Quarterly hosted panel that featured James Hoffa, president of the Teamsters, Leo Gerard of the United Steelworker's Union, filmmaker Stuart Townsend and his girlfriend Charlize Theron.

Townsend just made a film called "Battle In Seattle" which documents the WTO riots in Seattle in 1999. Though happily critical of America, no actual Americans seem to have been used in getting this film to the silver screen. As Leo Gerard pointed out:

"It took an Irishman with funding from Canada to make this film."

Foreigners sure like telling us what's wrong with our country, eh?

Theron didn't speak until the very end, so in the spirit of the event, I have included photos (below the fold) of what appeared to be her primary purpose in attending: namely, to look hot, which she did extremely well.

When she was asked her thoughts on being in the film she responded that labor was important to her because she was from a continent in which there were labor issues. Which narrows her place of birth down to six of the seven continents I believe.

Pics below the fold.
