The internet has been chock-full of hilarious controversy this week [Think fast, young blogger, do you link to GOP.com or the McCain boobs? Uh... both, of course!] — and the hits just keep coming, this time from Kansas, where a state legislator has gotten himself in trouble for posting a "rap song" about Barack Obama on YouTube. (Back off, Steele, I saw this first.)

The video has since vanished, but a quick-thinking Kansas reporter "caught" what Rep. Bill Otto "spit," so you can still "have a taste." Enjoy…

Otto first introduces his creation saying, "It's a redneck rap from the no-bull zone."

Then he launches in: "Yo, Barack, my man with the plan / You’re laying us low with this czar scam / You promised things would be different, and it looks like they are / But worse wasn't the change people voted for / Don't send them Gitmo killers in our backyard / Send them to the internal revenue service so they can get tortured real hard."

Oh yes, there is more. Much more, in fact, because some people who just don't get redneck comedy are taking issue with the grande finale of Rep. Otto's solo…

Otto's musical commentary ends with him pointing to his hand-lettered cap and saying: "Opossum, the other dark meat. A little greasy, but hey."

Otto, a LeRoy Republican easily re-elected in 2008, said he isn't a racist. The reference to "dark meat" wasn't about Obama, he said. It was meant to be a joke about his ancestors living in rural Arkansas dining on opossum, he said.

Racist against black people? Racist against rednecks? Racist against vegans? Who can tell, these days? One thing is for certain: Rep. Otto won't be hanging up his mic any time soon, boyeee…

Otto said he wouldn't give into pressure to stop producing videos with a political flavor that get under the skin of some people. "I've been a ham for a long time," he said.

Aw snap! Get it? Get it?? Pork! The other white meat!

This is Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS), and everyone's chattering about a thing she said during a recent town hall, in an attempt to explain if/how the GOP can get its act together to defeat Barack Obama in 2012…

"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," Jenkins said to the crowd. [...] "So don't, you know, lose faith if you are a conservative."

Ruh-roh!

Now if it were me, and people were writing about my "racist" use of the phrase 'great white hope,' I'd be all, "Duh, I meant to say 'great white shark,' because as I'm sure you're aware Carcharodon carcharias is the biggest predatory fish in the world, which is obviously a metaphor for Republicans, who will require many rows of metaphorical teeth in order to defeat Barack Obama."

But hey, what do I know? Let's find out how Team Jenkins handles the spin…

[Spokesperson Mary] Geiger released the following statement on Jenkins' behalf: "There's no doubt the Republican Party has gone through some dark and challenging times in recent years, but thankfully bright young leaders have stepped up to lead the party into the future and she hopes to be a part of it."

Yep, I'd go with the sharks.

Hey, crazy people in the world. Here's a lesson for you: If you work hard enough, harass people with whom you disagree persistently enough, allow blind hatred to become the driving force of your life enough, and get at least one of your buddies to murder people enough, then all of your dreams can come true…

The Wichita abortion clinic run by a doctor who was shot and killed will remain closed permanently, his family said on Tuesday.

Dr. George R. Tiller’s clinic was one of the few in the country to provide abortions to women late in their pregnancies, and for decades, women had traveled there from all over the nation and from overseas. It was also the only remaining abortion clinic, even for first trimester abortions, in the Wichita region.

It's so heart-warming to see American fundamentalist terrorist organizations really taking to heart all the things they've learned from their counterparts in the Middle East.

It's so bittersweet. You work tirelessly for years and years and years in pursuit of a single goal, and then when you finally achieve it, you face a really odd situation. You're super proud for having realized your goal, but you're also kind of adrift, purposeless.

That's pretty much what the anti-abortion protesters in Kansas must be experiencing right now…

For the first time in years, only a Wichita police car has been waiting outside the abortion clinic of Dr. George R. Tiller, who was shot to death a week ago. Gone are the trucks bearing enormous images of bloody fetuses, the signs offering the home addresses of clinic workers, the crowd of protesters yelling to women as they enter…

Over almost 20 years, a vocal, diverse constellation of anti-abortion forces has grown up in this conservative city with an intensity rarely seen elsewhere, converging around Dr. Tiller’s practice. With his death, its future suddenly seems uncertain, too.

"I don't know what the future holds," said Troy Newman, the president of Operation Rescue, one of the most well-known anti-abortion organizations. Seven years ago, Mr. Newman moved his organization's national headquarters, its leaders and his family from Southern California to Wichita to focus a national spotlight on Dr. Tiller, whom he described as "the flagship" of the country's abortion business.

"I think it's too early to say what comes next," he said.

Yeah, who can really say what comes next? Will they find another abortion doctor to harrass continuously? And will they ultimately murder that doctor or perhaps just torture him until he can't remember his name? Will they just begin randomly snipering women as they walk out of planned parenthood facilities?

Or maybe — just maybe — they'll pray so hard and so seriously that they'll be able to coax Jesus down from His Kingdom in Heaven, and he'll pull out his semi-automatic and lead the charge against the agents of evil, the godless and the everyone else who contributed money to Democratic campaigns.

It's just too early to say what comes next.

Every once in a while, I get a pang of guilt over all the pigs and cows and chickens and mountain lions I've eaten in my life, and I seriously consider giving up meat and making an attempt at vegetarianism.

But then I think: If you do that, you'll be on the same team as PETA. And then I immediately run to the nearest BBQ place I can find and see how many dead animals I can shove into my face before I throw up.

From Feministing…

PETA is treating the assassination of Dr. Tiller as an opportunity to spread their message to the pro-life and pro-choice communities. According to Kansas.com the animal rights organization is planning to erect two billboards in Wichita, one that says "Pro-Life? Go Vegetarian," and one that says "Pro-Choice? Choose Vegetarian." Both show images of baby chicks…

PETA is not a social justice organization. Their primary media tactic is to appeal to the worst bigotry in U.S. culture in an attempt to stir up controversy and shock people into vegetarianism. Their tactics in working for animal rights is an affront to the cause of justice.

Hopefully — for PETA's sake — a whole bunch more people will be violently murdered before this controversy is over. It'd be a shame if they ran out of reasons to send women out into public to smear on body paint and get naked in the name of stopping all the exploitation.

He's got an interesting background. He's like a fictional character, but he's real. First off, his mother was a Kansas girl. Never lived in Kansas though, but with deep roots. You know, like Kansas bloody Kansas. John Brown the insurrectionist. Jesse James and Quantrill. Bushwhackers, Guerillas. Wizard of Oz Kansas. I think Barack has Jefferson Davis back there in his ancestry someplace.

And then his father. An African intellectual. Bantu, Masai, Griot type heritage — cattle raiders, lion killers. I mean it's just so incongruous that these two people would meet and fall in love. You kind of get past that though. And then you're into his story. Like an odyssey except in reverse.

Not bad. But I still prefer his old character sketches from before he went electric.

Sonny Scroggins is just the man for this job.

Scroggins, who is known for his sometimes quixotic crusades against social injustice, said voting results last week were among the "most profound things that have ever happened to humankind."

"I got Jesus, I got the Internet, and now I got Nov. 4, 2008," he said.

What to call this day, November 4, when Barack Obama was elected? Elected Day? Day of Electing? Changemas? Oh, I don't know.

Unfortunately for Sonny, a lot of people want to interview him about his idea, but he's having trouble finding anyone who wants to help turn the dream into reality. Even worse, the owner of his office space is all, No You Can't…

Scroggins hit another roadblock when the downtown McDonald's, long his staging ground, heard about his upcoming planning sessions.

"You absolutely do not have permission to do any kind of Obama planning," owner Karen Tyler said in a voice mail left on Scroggins' phone and played for The Capital-Journal.

Scroggins said he has held court at the fast-food joint for years with no problems and wasn't sure why he was being kicked out now.

Well, Sonny, if Barack Obama Day is thwarted, perhaps the Topeka McDonald's would be more supportive of a national God's Son and the Internet Day.

Which, if you think about it, is pretty close.

We're running out of time to spread rumors about Barack Obama's veep pick, so let's smear these latest clues across the internet as quickly as possible.

Obama's making an appearance with his running mate in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday. That much we know. So, um, Joe Biden, where are you going to be on Saturday?

Biden replied, "Here" and pointed down to his driveway [which is located in Delaware].

As he pulled out of the driveway in the driver's seat of his car he then said to the press gathered near his gate, "You guys have better things to do. I'm not the guy."

That certainly sounds like an upfront admission of Biden's non-veepiness, but a) he could be lying, or b) Obama's Springfield advance teams are a cover-up for a major event taking place in Joe Biden's driveway. Assuming c), he's telling the truth… oh my god! Is Obama going to pick Hillary after all? Or another high-ranking woman, like Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas?

No, because Barack Obama's disdain for women prevents him from keeping his New England colleges straight…

[Obama] used the word "he" to describe his choice rather than the phrase "he or she," which would appear to exclude potential female running mates such as Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

A senior Obama strategist, Robert Gibbs, said that reporters shouldn't "read anything into" Obama use of the masculine pronoun.

An earlier comment from Obama, though, also made it seem unlikely that he'd pick Clinton. He told a woman in the town hall audience that he gets Wellesley College, a women's college outside Boston where Clinton was the student commencement speaker in 1969, confused with co-ed Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Good goddess! Why does Obama have such scorn for poor Hillary Clinton that he can't remember where she gave her commencement speech?

For that matter, why can't he remember the commencement speech he gave at Wesleyan three months ago?

All these hints add up to one logical answer: Evan Bayh really will be Obama's running mate.

Or, you know, not.

Call it mob mentality. Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts has joined the list of Republicans skipping their party's convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul on account of a tight re-election campaign.

Roberts is the sixth big name Republican to dis John McCain on his special night, thus making this a full-blown trend -– one that threatens to become as popular as taking money from Jack Abramoff was in 2004!

Here's a rundown of who's ducked out so far…

Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts
Wound up campaigning in the wrong Minneapolis this past week.

Maine Sen. Susan Collins
Will be hosting a talk radio gossip show on the topic of John Edwards's alleged illegitimate daughter.

Oregon Sen. Gordon Smith
Given that he's now running desperate TV ads featuring Barack Obama and John Kerry, he may try to sneak into the Democratic convention instead.

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens
Hedging his bets that he'll already be in jail by then.

North Carolina Sen. Elizabeth Dole
Still bitter when it comes to the topic of presidential nominations.

Vice President Dick Cheney
Numerous daytime events and possible exposure to garlic in the catering spreads make the convention a mortal danger for him.

That's six prominent Republicans down and there's still two weeks 'til the convention. I just hope Joe Lieberman has a lot of material prepared.
