Sometimes you wake up in a good mood, only to discover that a lawnmower is destined to run over your foot by sundown. Other days, you wake up angry at the cat that's screaming outside your window, and then you find out that the funniest/corruptiest politician since Boss Tweed is gonna be on The Daily Show.

Guess which day today is.

Yep, Rod Blagojevich — the Guinness World Record holder for politician most unanimously ejected from office* — will be sitting down to discuss… well, who the hell knows what, with Jon Stewart on Thursday night.

Will this be the greatest moment in Daily Show history? I don't wanna sound hyperbolic, so I'm just gonna say yes!

It's hard to believe it's been less than a year since this guy hit the national stage. Remember way back in early December of '08, when we all actually used to stumble over how to pronounce that guy's name? (I mean, seriously, "Rod"?) Ah, such innocence.

Let's take a quick bus ride down Memory Boulevard with the first ever time that name stumbled from Jon Stewart's lips…

Nevada Growing Weary of the Quality of Harry Reid's Ineffectiveness

Things aren't looking good for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2010…

A new poll of Nevadans shows Reid losing to either of two potential Republican challengers. He trails Danny Tarkanian 49-38, and is behind Sue Lowden 45-40. That follows a survey conducted in May that offered similarly dispiriting results for the senator. At that time, a plurality of the state — 45 percent — said they'd "definitely" vote to replace Reid.

This hardly seems fair. Nevadarians sure are fickle, aren't they?

I mean, he's obviously been working his ass off to stay just as ineffective as he's always been. Is it his fault that now he's the leader of the super-majority in the Senate? Of course, under those kinds of circumstances, his effectiveness will increase ever-so-slightly. It'd be impossible to make it otherwise.

But look at the job he's been doing? He's already caved to pressure from the President to not reprimand Joe Lieberman at all. He's backed down after fifteen minutes of bluster over letting a disgraced governor seat a U.S. Senator for money. And now — his a coup de grace — he's allowing his own party to bitterly divide itself and be led around by completely fabricated Republican talking points.

The guy is pretty much supernaturally ineffective! What more do you want from him, Nevada?

Remember that really weird dream you had last night in which disgraced Illinois former-governor Rod Blagojevich was onstage singing Elvis covers while Fabio cheered him on?

Well, somebody just invented a a machine that videotapes dreams and they put yours up on YouTube…

When I woke up this morning, I had no idea I was gonna see something like that before lunchtime. What a world.

Sen. Roland Burris to Selflessly Carry On Illinois's Tradition of Political Shame

Roland Burris — the Illinois senator for whom we have not yet, as of the time of posting, found actual video footage of him stuffing money into the g-string of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich in exchange for Barack Obama's vacant seat — has decided that he just might run for re-election in 2010 despite all the obvious reasons why he should not be doing that…

Illinois Sen. Roland Burris announced last month that he would not run to retain his Senate seat next year, but in his first television interview since making that decision, Burris told ABC News he could change his mind.

"You never say never," Burris told ABC News… "What I'm still hearing," Burris said, is "people from all over the country and they are saying, 'Don't give up that seat.'"

Wow! That's some kind of Superman-quality hearing that guy has. It's especially amazing that he can hear all those people from all over the country saying that over top of the roaring din of embarrassed laughter.

Even Rod Blagojevich Is Making Fun of Rod Blagojevich These Days

Unbowed by his failed recent quest to heap additional shame upon the state of Illinois by appearing on reality television, Rod Blagojevich is bravely sallying forth and pioneering brand new ways to embarrass the people who voted him into office.

His new gambit is pretty ingenious, if you ask me. He's jumping on stage with a bunch of comedians Second City to help them make fun of him. Because that's a thing that impeached governors should be doing…

The former governor will participate in Saturday's evening performance of "Rod Blagojevich Superstar," his spokesman Glenn Selig said Tuesday…

The show is a takeoff on the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" and follows Blagojevich's rise and fall.

I suppose it's a good thing that Second City agreed to let him participate. 'Cause, let's face it, he was jumping up on that stage one way or the other.

At least this way no one gets their face bitten.
