TMZ spoke with Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) who tells us he thinks Prejean could be a serious contender in the political arena:

"[Carrie] has the ability to draw crowds and if she has a strong message to go with that, who knows what she can do? She has star power which can open doors."

That's some high regard you hold your job in Rep. Chaffetz.

In all seriousness, though, could she possibly be any worse than Michele Bachmann?

Huntsman's primary beef with the Republican minority is that, in his view, they haven't come up with new ideas and solutions, but are representing themselves as — to borrow a cliche — the party of "no."

"Right now, we are devoid of some of those big ideas that will allow us to become a governing party once again," Huntsman told the Times. "Until we get to that point, we are going to be sort of out there gasping for air, and that's where we are right now."

RNC Chairman Michael Steele fired back by "threatened to withhold party funds from three GOP senators who voted for the stimulus package."

Who's being gratuitously partisan now, huh?

If you see Rep. Jason Chaffetz wandering around the halls of Capitol Hill or loitering by the congressional candy machine, please do not give him any appointments to congressional committees. And definitely don't give him any pork. No matter how hungry for graft he looks. It will only serve to encourage him.

I know you think you're doing the right thing, but you're not. Believe me. You're not.

But now Minnick wants to add one more plank to that platform: copying everything that Utah Congressman Jim Matheson does…

Congressman-elect Walt Minnick says western and northern Idaho voters who chose him over one-term incumbent Republican Bill Sali need only look one state southward to see how a Democratic lawmaker can be effective in a largely GOP state.

U.S. Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, has won five times by focusing on constituent services — and by appearing to break ranks with leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on votes including October’s $700 billion bailout.

Like Matheson, Minnick is a Harvard University graduate. And like Matheson, Minnick has vowed to reach across the aisle to his Republican counterparts.

He and Matheson ran similar campaigns, each reluctant to emphasize Democratic ties. And Matheson invited Minnick to join the “Blue Dog Coalition,” about 50 fiscally conservative House Democrats, according to the group’s Web site.

Minnick has promised that his first act once sworn into office will be covering his copy of the Congressional Record with Matheson's name, and occasionally with the name "Walter Matheson."

Anyway, it's appropriate that these two will be working closely together, since Idaho and Utah are more alike than ever.  For instance, Idaho residents donated $400,000 to the Mormon Church's efforts to outlaw same-sex marriage in California.  And scientists working jointly at the University of Idaho and Utah State University recently cloned a mule.

Their follow-up project, apparently, was cloning a Congressman.

It's not the same watching the Mike Huckabee's of the world; they don't know. They're innocent and befuddled by numbers. They still believe in miracles, fairies and affordable unicorn burgers. But for a Mitt Romney, a former CEO with a mind for the bottom line, reality comes into much clearer focus.

And the reality is that Mitt Romney is done. If his campaign were a factory in Michigan, he'd close it down and farm all the talking points out to Indonesia.

So, yeah, watching him try to be positive about the whole thing was difficult. Of the six states he's won, three of them — Michigan, Utah and Massachusetts — were "home states." (They really need to put a cap on the number of home states a candidate can claim.) You could see it on his face. His features, usually robotic, were decidedly mannequin-ish.

Let's all pour a 40 of non-alcoholic malt liquor out for our fallen Mormon bro.
